Bio

If Posi was a basketball team, they would be the worst team that has ever squared up for a tip off. Luckily they stick with what works; playing music.

For better or for worse, Posi calls Kalamazoo MI home. It’s a love hate relationship which certainly comes to fruition in their music. I can’t think of another clichè to put here. If it weren’t for the typically shitty Michigan weather, especially in the perennially sunless Kalamazoo clime, no one would form bands. Hell, we’d all be outside.

Cam and Dave had some regional success in their previous band, the Mad Butchers, and Cam later with the Thought Industry. Jim kind of came and went with the band Schneider. And Casey, well no one really knows where he comes from.

It’s the Posi aesthetic that sums up their sound. Subscribing heavily to the DIY attitude and feel of their revered idols of yesteryear (Fugazi, GBV, Jawbox, the list goes on) the band is material focused. In a very fundamental way the music speaks for itself. If the song has no backbone and no passion then there is no need to play it.

So for those of you who need to know exactly what happens when Posi practices or hits the stage, it works this way:

Cam plays guitar and sings the words.

Dave plays guitar and sometimes sings a word or two.

Jim plays bass and writes the words that Cam sings (for the most part).

Casey shaves his head and plays drums (he also takes most of the pictures and puts them on the internet).

So check them out. It won’t hurt. The bass player looks like a Campbell Soup kid.
