Bio
Many people associate Appalachian music with banjos and bluegrass, but growing up in the rural mountains of Virginia inspired a different creative path in me. When I was young, my dad and I would sit and listen to his records, from Brazilian jazz to Peter Gabriel. He exposed me to a lot of music that many teens of the 90s weren't. I started playing guitar when I was ten years old and soon fell in love with grunge, along with indie rock pioneers like Pavement and acoustic guitar virtuosos like Leo Kottke. I got into fusion jazz players like John McLaughlin and Al DiMeola in my late teens which inspired me to attend Berklee College of Music. Living in Boston led to many other adventures around the US which landed me in Los Angeles, Phoenix and New York in the past few years. I've always been interested in a big, lush guitar sounds, and have created quite a few of my own alternate tunings, which really define me as a player and a songwriter. I have since gotten over my devotion to emulating technical masters and now mostly enjoy great songwriters, such as Radiohead and the like.
