Bio

The Postponers are formed in May 2005 in Groningen, Netherlands. Bandmembers are J.B. Dazen (guitar, vocals), Jan Pieter Wijbenga (bass) and Wim Mulder (drums). The songs are written by J.B. Dazen. The songs breathe the atmosphere of bands such as Radiohead, Muse, Jeff Buckley and The Beatles.

In June 2005, J.B. Dazen solo wins the regional singersongwriter contest of Groningen. One of the rewards is a track on De Slag van Groverpop 2006, the annual sampler of the local pop organization (January 2006). His ambitions not lying in the solo circuit, this track (Goodbye) is recorded by The Postponers. The local OOG radio catches on Goodbye pretty quickly, the track can be heard there regularly.

In March 2006, two more tracks (We Love You, Really In Love) are recorded and released via the website and myspace. Meanwhile, requests for gigs are starting to come in. The Postponers play at different venues in provinces Groningen and Friesland.

In July 2006 the band decides it is time for extensive recordings. In one day, drum tracks for thirteen songs are recorded. In the following months, work on the rest of the parts is done piece by piece at J.B. Dazen's place. A track from these sessions, Speed Of A Highway, leaks in February 2007 and instantly becomes 'marathon disc' on OOG radio. In September 2006 meanwhile, J.B. Dazen has become a student at the Academy for Pop Culture in Leeuwarden, which stimulates him in putting even more energy into The Postponers.

In June 2007 the waiting is finally over: the debut album, entitled The Concept is released. The release is aided by a teaser campaign, which gets The Postponers a lot of media exposure. Speed Of A Highway is played on Kink FM, in the column NL ROXX, compiled by the Dutch National Pop Institute. New single Do You Know Love becomes the second 'marathonschijf' on OOG radio.

The band has been busy since then. Next to the thirteen songs from The Concept, more new songs are ready as well. J.B. Dazen is working hard on even more new material at this moment. This season the band will be performing live as much as they can.
