Bio

Potomac Jazz Project was founded and is led by Bassist Stan Hamrick. As a musician, Stan is a longtime student of the upright bass, having studied Jazz Bass with Thelonius Monk Competition Finalist Tom Baldwin at the University of Maryland and Classical with Glenn Dewey of the President’s Marine Band and George Mason University. In addition to Potomac Jazz Project, he has played with the University of Virginia Symphony Orchestra, The University of Maryland Big Band, as well as some of the best jazz musicians in the DC area. In addition to being the Potomac Jazz leader, Stan has also produced Two CD’s for Potomac Jazz Project – The Scenic Route and Bop, Ballads & Blues – which have received excellent reviews.

Potomac Jazz Project centers each engagement on the client’s desires or the atmosphere of the crowd and venue. From intimate guitar and bass duos for quiet restaurants or dinners, to the traditional jazz trios, quartets and quintets we have provided for multiple appearances at the Smithsonian and Kennedy Center, PJP gives each gig the individual attention it deserves. We work with some of the best musicians in the DC area.
