Bio

Meet Potzee, Warner Music's hot new artist and the latest hip hop sensation to come out of The Lou. Fresh off fellow St. Louisan Nelly's Sweatsuit Tour Potzee has just released his first solo album Hongree. Local hip hop fans are all too familiar with Potzee and his act Quor03. In 2005 he caught the eye of industry executive Selim Bouad who was then an A & R at Sony Music. From there Potzee's talent escalated him through the ranks of labels from Unauthorized to Asylum and finally skyrocketing him to one of Warner music’s most exciting new artists.
Potzee's given name is Akio Gray. He is the son of a local musician and has been singing since he could talk. His father's influence gave Potzee a taste for vintage music...and vintage everything. Even his stage name is lifted from the seventies high school sitcom Happy Days. Potzee's own high school life was not as ideal and after a bump in the road he completed a work-release program for an assault conviction. Like everything in Potzee's life he has turned negativity into productivity paying for his mistake and moving forward. “You can make mistakes, but you have to learn from mistakes.”
The first track off of Hongree is named for Potzee's alter ego “Mr. Good Evening” and features Murphy Lee. His other tracks to hit the clubs and the airwaves have people on both coasts turning up the volume and getting on the dance floor. The songs “Dat Girl” and “Bootch” have artists and executives turning their eyes toward the Midwest where much like Nelly and the St. Lunatics a decade ago a massive young hip hop talent is appearing.
Potzee reunited with his St. Louis soldiers Quor03: Adonis, Beezy, Youvee, Koole and new addition Gena to release the mix tape Dat Killa Dawg: The Wood Edition. With the summer release of the mix tape and the video for "Dat Girl", Potzee is ready for St. Louis to grab the rap spotlight from Atlanta. “I'm going to keep it real St. Louis.” Get ready for rap's next mega star, Potzee.
