"Fan Testamonials"

We stopped to ask some people what they thought about Powernap after our show on February 9th at the Metal Mansion. This is what they said...

~I've seen Powernap at least 5 times now, and they keep getting better every time~

~Most fun I've had at a show~

~The ultimate party band.~

~They take themselves seriously but they don't take themselves seriously at the same time.~

~I love the masks that the two guitarists wear, so ridiculous.~

Powernap On Satan's Floor:: They are pretty unique technical metal that touches on just about all the sub-genres. I think they are all Berklee students. In October they filled in on a Metal Thursday at the last minute when Your Pain Is Endearing canceled. One of their songs had a long Santana-esque jam in the middle of it and I swear half the crowd joined in a conga line... it was surreal.

Powernap: hilarious fun music. They mix in a little of everything in the guise of power metal. That rules. Reminds me a little of strapping young lad's ability to have a good time on stage.

powernap was lots of fun. yeah i'd go just for them. they need to play earlier.

I'd go just for Powernap! - Return to the Pit forums

Bio

Powernap emerged from the metal minorities of Berklee College of Music. With band members from all over the US, we joined together to form a band from our diverse influences.

The main songwriter of the band, Ryan (Satan) Beckwith, is from Connecticut. His influences started in Classical Music and spread to Melodic Death Metal and Tech Metal with such artists as Children of Bodom, In Flames, Between the Buried and Me, Meshuggah, Tchaicovsky, Mozart, Beethoven, and Paganini. Powernap is the second metal band he has started and it's music is an expression of emotions and longing for a group to give inspiration to something more than just a band.

Sarah Martinez grew up in Taos, New Mexico. She listened to 80's metal in her youth and is now involved in many different types of music.

Wyeth Holman is the really tall guy who dresses up for shows (you'll see). His roots are in Black and Death Metal such as Mayhem, Dark Throne, Burzum, and Dimmu Borgir.

Joe (Taskforce) Tasker is the guy behind the keys, mostly dwelling on choral type structures for fullness of sound, and harmonies with guitars he makes a necessary component of Powernap. His influences come from the goth scene in Washington D.C.

Matt Price is the drummer from PA. His raw energy and tight beats make playing live easy. His influences come from all across the board in the metal genre.

Jeremy Day is a singer born in Norway, lived in Sveden. He studed in the jungles of the amazon wilderness. Most of his studies were about lyric writing. His influence come from Meshuggah, All Shall Perish, Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects, Amon Amarth, Tool, Nothingface, and Captain Coniption and the Fits.

Powernap are also close friends with several Boston Bands of similar styles, so we can help out with filling a set if needed. Bands include Powerglove, Protean Collective, Revocation, Red Silhouette, and Whoarfrost, just to name a few.
