"HR (OF BAD BRAINS) W/DUBB AGENT, POWER OF COMING AGE"

(Funhouse, early) Bad Brains have re-formed for the time being, taking their Rasta-fueled metal/funk/hardcore machine back on the road, at least until their legendary feuding derails the train again. For those who'd rather not brave the mob at the band's Sasquatch! appearance, enigmatic frontman HR follows his true heart to the Funhouse, performing a reggae-oriented matinee set a week before the big gig. Picking up what's being called the most original local band since Nirvana, "Power of Coming Age", to open up the night. Members of the Bad Brains recall catching the local act a few years ago and invited them into their world. It's no-suprise either, the eclectic five piece ensemble fuses elements of Metal, punk, Tribal/ trip-hop/ reggae rythmns, and straight Hip-Hop. Like the Bad Brains breaking out in the 70's, I can feel Power of Coming Age following a similiar un-walked path. A few confused eyes from the crowd is almost a goal of this pairing. HR's eccentric behavior—a history of violence, bizarre antics, and no-shows—might be tempered in this setting, playing the music he prefers rather than the music that brought him notoriety. Still, purists might not consider this business as usual. HR's solo material channels muscular rock cadences into the dub and reggae sounds while retaining all the Jah righteousness that comes so naturally to him. - the Stranger

Bio

Beyond the walls of the universe, there lies a mysterious force. This force influences all that exists. As we move forward into the future, the universe continues to evolve into a new phase. Thus we call this event, Power of Coming Age. Two ordained messengers were sent to earth to translate the Powers' potential. These messengers go by the names of Urban and Motionfix. As time passed, during the mission. The two united themselves with three new messengers(dale, edidit, and perkins) to complete the perfect five. Through instruments and sound, Power of Coming Age displays an astounding touch of eccentric energy. Fusing elements such as metal, hip-hop, soul, tribal, electro, and experimental to form a powerful hybrid style. With this array of fundamental elements, Power of Coming Age believes this is the medecine for the future, which will break all boundaries of ignorance.
