Powersolo

What do you think of when you hear the name "PowerSolo"? 'Round Denmark way, the moniker apparently conjures the trash-rock psychobilly legacy of Hasil Adkins, the Cramps, and Southern Culture on the Skids. PowerSolo may be a power duo, but in this case, the prog-metal acrobatics of Rush are replaced with something they call "donkey punk." Two tremolo-loving chicken-scratch rail-thin guitarists Kim Kix and the Atomic Child. It would've been well enough had Powersolo hailed from the Land of NASCAR, but the fact that this exercise in B-movie punk-a-billy is coming from Aarhus, Denmark, adds plenty of delicious cognitive dissonance.

Oh yeah! Now what?? Yep the Danish Leather Zombie cracksmokin’, heroin shootin’ combo PowerSolo is what everybody fears! Two unpredictable brothers with glue in the pocket and a pair of scissors in the lung... and what’s worse. Yes we’re talkin’ about the Atomic Child and Mr. Kim Kix. They’re skinnier than the skinniest motherfucker you ever saw, but they have more bone than the fattest motherfucker that ever fucked you. YES! Mr. Kim Kix, The Atomic Child are the real deal, mothers!

So far they have been the masterminds behind five albums, a soundtrack, a 10”-split with Heavy Trash, two 7”-singles and several contributions to compilations. They are hardworking and dedicated people who wake up every morning just to play music. Maybe that’s why PowerSolo never stop touring but always have a new gig planned somewhere in the world.

Since the release of their fourth album, BLOODSKINBONES, from 2009, PowerSolo has toured the USA and Europe. Canned Love, from said album, has conquered the world soundtracking commercials for both Coca Cola and Honda. Their song Kat Nazer was also the main track in Absolute Vodka's short film, Lemon Drop featuring Ali Larter, and a worldwide Heineken commercial. During the autumn of 2011 another PowerSolo track, Baby, You Ain’t Lookin’ Right features in the much talked about TV series American Horror Story as end credit in the pilot episode.

In spring of 2011 PowerSolo released their fifth record BUZZ HUMAN which was recorded in Aarhus Sound Studio in a tight- knit collaboration between the two brothers, who became a duo on BLOODSKINBONES. It is PowerSolo concentrate: The two brothers in a room, two guitars, a drum kit and 15 songs begging to be put on record. They recorded day and night, and the result is a sound that is more intense and to- the- bone than ever before.
