"Allmusicguide"

These two brothers from Brooklyn make indie pop the way it should be made: ramshackle, wistful and sweet as a summer afternoon.

"Take The Pills"

...The songs are poppy and rather lovely, blending sixties influences with lo-fi melodies, influenced by The Kinks, The Pastels and Smiths. Highly recommended, don't miss it!!!

"Colour Me Impressed"

...pow wow!, have been quietly working together on their upbeat tunes for 3 years. The songs pull together disperate infuences that showcase the brothers’ enthusiasm for a wide variety of pop music. Their track “So Weird” has been on repeat all afternoon, making a nice companion on an unusually sunny February afternoon.

"Brooklynvegan"

...I don't know a whole lot about Greenpoint-via-Jersey band Pow Wow! besides what Ive gleaned from their MySpace. Basically a duo of brothers Edward and Jeff Nazareno, the two have been writing together for about three years but only began releasing music last year. And most of it is pretty catchy stuff. The band list Burt Bacharach and The Smiths as influences but their songs are in a similar, laid-back vibe to the Little Joy record.

"The Rathaus"

Pow Wow! cleverly infuses The Kinks, The Smiths, The Pastels, and even Burt Bacharach into music that often sounds both cheerful and cynical at the same time. “My House Your House Mine” is a stand-out track centered on a laid back yet catchy guitar riff and sugar-sweet melody that almost forces you to hit repeat. And the best part is, Pow Wow! is offering their complete discography as a free download through their blog. Download your copies quick before this up and coming band is signed by a top notch label and their music ends up on the overpriced soundtrack of a style over substance indie film starring Natalie Portman.

"The Acorn"

...Above all, Pow Wow! is a fresh and unique sound distinct from any other band playing in the greater Manhattan area. They will have you looking behind you for your soul, and looking ahead for the sound.

"The Janglebox"

The Pastels, The Smiths, The Kinks... Llevan un tiempo autoeditándose singles como el que nos ocupa, que es el último editado, el cual puedes oír y descargar gratuitamente desde su página/blog oficial: Pow Wow, a website of shorts. Gracias por invitarnos a conocer vuestro material !!

"ATTENTION SPACE CADETS!"

think of pow wow! as a living jukebox. of songs you haven't yet heard but have been longing to hear. think of them as love. for pop music long gone and pop music yet to be created. think blue suede shoes and outerspace.

pow wow! is the brainchild of the nazareno brothers. Originally from the suburbs of jersey and currently based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the brothers have been writing and playing music relentlessly for the past 11 years. However, it was only 3 years ago that the two decided to consolidate their aspirations and form a group together. under the moniker, pow wow!, they've undergone several line-up changes and currently have whittled their number to only 2. they are consistently enjoyable, though unpredictable in both writing and performance, and incredibly prolific in output while maintaining a level of quality in songwriting often unseen in today's mainstream heap.

Their tunes are infectious and subversively charming, whispering romance and promiscuity; love and apathy... often in the same breath. From spaced out electric disco beats to country tinged twang, the group prides itself in being a chameleon of sorts, drawing from the past 60 years of international pop music, and following a lineage of "march to their own beat type of bands" such as the kinks, sparks, and the smiths.

they have been known to perform together, and apart. sometimes playing shows simultaneously, in two different places, both billed under pow wow! what you have here is no run of the mill, bandwagon group. pow wow! are writers, producers, and performers. collaborators and promoters. actors and artists. lovers and fighters all at once aiming to abstract the definition of "band."

ladies and gentlemen, i am pleased to introduce to you, brooklyn's own, pow wow!

Think of a living jukebox of songs you haven't yet heard but have been longing to hear. Think of them as love for pop music long gone and pop music yet to be created. Think blue suede shoes and outerspace.

In comes pow wow!, the brainchild of the Nazareno brothers. Originally from the suburbs of New Jersey and currently based in New York City, they have been writing and playing music relentlessly for over a decade until the two decided to consolidate their aspirations and form a group together: pow wow!

They are new, fresh, and sexy. Their tunes are infectious and subversively charming, whispering romance and promiscuity; love and apathy... often in the same breath. All the while never forgetting to poke fun at the lemons life hands us. The awkward moments. The compromising situations. Conversational songs for the electronic generation.

From neon-colored disco beats to country tinged twang, the group prides itself in being a chameleon of sorts, drawing from the past 60 years of international pop music, and following a lineage of "march to their own beat type of bands" such as The Kinks, Sparks, The Pastels and The Smiths.

From late 2008 to the present, they've independently recorded and produced a series of singles in their own studio in NYC, giving them away, free of charge, in-person and the vast reaches of the internet. They are currently playing shows and dream of having their own vinyl record on shelves across the universe.
