Practical Animal

Ever feel like you're at war with yourself?  Like there's a battle in your brain between being rational but aching to be irrational? Yeah. You're not alone.  Enter Practical Animal, a four-piece indie/alternative rock band from Los Angeles, CA. 

There's no shortage of fire and passion in this rock band.  With soaring vocals, clean guitar riffs and deeply introspective lyrics, they strive to create a resounding and deeply human response to their music.  Subtle yet powerful, ambient yet direct, civil...yet wild. Practical Animal seeks to capture the true breadth of human emotion. 

Comprised of Austen Moret (lead vocalist and songwriter), Anthony Francisco (lead guitar), Mark Stewart (bass), and Chris Stokes (drums), Practical Animal is the brainchild of lead singer Austen Moret.  Though the group is now based in Los Angeles, the project really started to gain footing in the winter of 2012 when Austen moved to Moorpark, CA from Milwaukee, WI in pursuit of his dream of being a musician.  After a brief stint in several other bands he decided to work on his own material and in the fall of 2012 he met Anthony Francisco in Ventura, CA, laying the foundations for the project.  Mark Stewart joined on bass in August of 2013, which was quickly followed by the release of the EP 'Strange Lands' in December 2013. Drummer Chris Stokes joined the group in January of 2014, completing the lineup.  Interestingly, every band member was found through Craigslist.   

Currently gigging in Ventura, Practical Animal hopes to develop and expand their live show to Santa Barbara and Los Angeles in the summer and fall of 2014.  A full album is in development for Summer 2015.
