Bio

Pray for Mojo was formed in 2002 with one simple goal in mind: Have fun. They pledged that if it ever stopped being fun and became more like working their day jobs, then they’d all quit and join the circus, calling themselves the Fabulous Finnegan’s. Fortunately for them, other people enjoyed their early demos so they decided to literally take the show on the road.

Joe, Carl, Jeff and their original guitarist Matt pieced together a self-released CD entitled All the Beer in Milwaukee to satisfy the masses. The first pressing of 1000 CD’s sold-out. Matt, however, soon after left the part-time rock-star lifestyle and Joe was given more guitar responsibilities. Joe, who hates responsibilities of any kind, quickly found Aaron who was brought onboard so Joe could drink more beer.

With Aaron, their new law-student prodigy, they began writing all new material for their next CD which will be entitled Hooray for Everything. The CD will be released either late 2004 or early 2005, depending on how many exams Aaron chooses to study for, how many beers Joe drinks, if Carl can convince his therapist to let him go, and if Jeff can find his way to the recording studio. Hopefully the stars will align and the world will rejoice.

Pray for Mojo was voted “Best Local Band” in the Philadelphia City Paper’s 2004 Reader’s Choice Awards, beating out such multi-platinum selling locals as Boyz II Men and Hall & Oates. In all fairness, neither of those groups play in Philly as often as they used to.

Pray for Mojo tries not to compare themselves to other popular bands, but their quirky, upbeat, and rockin’ style is the culmination of many years of listening to such bands as Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, The Clash, The Police, Fountains of Wayne, Camper Van Beethoven, They Might Be Giants, Ben Folds, Semisonic, Old 97’s, Cake, Green Day, The Talking Heads and many others too obscure to mention.

Pray for Mojo songs have been played on KOA Denver, Colorado, WEKZ Wisconsin, WASO Louisiana, and on the nationally syndicated show InCharge with Mike Schiano. Joe has also been interviewed by the aforementioned stations.

If you’re still reading this, you have more patience than we thought. Congratulations.
