Preferred Member

Preferred Member is Denver's premiere filth metal band that was established back in 1999. It began as a 4 track recording called "I Love Lesbians" from former Oklahoma resident, Scott Cooper(Lord Gunn). The song was influenced by bands like Pantera and Pungent Stench. It was not typical death or thrash, it was more of a sleazy heavy metal groove. In 2000 Cooper met up with drummer Matt Foster(Dr. Foster) at a sports bar. They hit it off and started jamming the original 4 track song. Scott brought in 2 more songs from his former band Broken(Cripple & Old Man). The band itself whent through many bass players including Charlie from Denver's grindcore soldiers, One Per Coffin. They played shows all over Denver including the Larimer Lounge, the 12 Volt Tavern(formerly Cheers), and Kustom Skin. They played with bands such as Throcult, One Per Coffin, Carrion Crawler, and Frontside Five In 2004 Bill Mahoeny(Haak Plegm), joined the band as lead guitar as well as Justin Siegler(General Pussy Ripper), from Denver's black metal act Acheronian Dirge, on bass. In the begining of 2005 student producer Kristian Day made an appearance at a practice night and was overtaken by there sound that he offered to record an album with them for free. At the end of the recording sessions, Justin departed to rejoin Acheronian Dirge again. A year and a half later Preferred Member signed to Left Hand Records and released the 11 song album "Spreading the Filth".
