"" The Annapolis/ Baltimore group, Pressing Strings are seeping into stereos all around the East Coast with their third album release""

Well, the sun is shining and although up here in the Mid-Atlantic it's to cold for suns out guns out, ya can still lean back and crank up this reggae tune with a cold one in hand. Summer can't come soon enough and why not start thinking about it even more with this gnarly vibrant summer tune, "Alien Life". Though it talks about those crazy extraterrestrial creatures that are lurking out there....or among us, who knows but, either way we can jam out hand in hand with them through this track. The Annapolis/ Baltimore group, Pressing Strings are seeping into stereos all around the East Coast with their third album release coming soon. So crank up the 2012 year right with some more chill beach vibes and wavy spacey synths by heading over to their Facebook. - EZBangerz.com

""Far above the slack-ass acoustic beach comber movement....""

What if Jack Johnson didn’t suck? He might sound more like Ben Harper. Or Pressing Strings. Despite meeting as beachhouse roommates and being unjustly compared on occasion to the aforementioned bane of our existence, the Annapolis duo of Josh Kachura and Jordan Sokel rise far above the slack-ass acoustic beach comber movement populated by Johnson and his ilk. distinctive vocals blast the band past the slackers and into the rich songwriting terrain currently occupied by stalwarts like Citizen Cope and Shawn Smith (Brad, Satchel). - Underground Wednesday

Bio

Pressing Strings is Maryland based quartet that was formed in 2006 by members/vocalists Jordan Sokel and Josh Kachura. Their music is rootsy and soulful blues based rock, highly influenced by reggae, folk, and early R&B. With two main lyricists that each possess their own style and approach, they create an interesting duality in the music. Half smokey and subtle, half smooth and rangy. Each working off the other building and assembling a defined, authentic sound.

The two stumbled upon the collaboration as roommates in an overcrowded beach house while attending college at Salisbury University and soon began recording and selling records around campus and at gigs. Word spread and the duo moved shop to their hometown Annapolis, MD where they continued to perform continuously gaining attention among the thriving local music scene and radio. After recording their sophomore album the the duo added drummer Bob Novak and bassist Nick Welker to mix and became a 4 piece, rounding the sound and providing backbone to the established vibe. From there the band self-recorded and released their third and most recent album in early 2012 funded entirely by the donations of fans.
