The best kept secret in music

"Ish Magazine Review Dec 2003"

Primed's live show, in terms of visuals, is something that has the potential to be truly mind blowing.

They design the visuals themselves, attempting to picture the music in each song and relay that feeling to their audience, and the result is a very unique experience. Every song is like a journey, and the graphic design and visuals accompany that brilliantly.

The band members’ influences are very diverse, yet they fit together nicely, like a musical collage. The mix includes Tool, Jane’s Addiction, Jethro Tull, Motorhead, Pink Floyd, Slayer and Van Morrison. Singer Derek, however, maintains that he doesn’t listen to anything.

The unsigned scene in Ireland is one that is ready to explode. Primed are likely to be at the forefront of that explosion. These guys have a loaded gun. They have taken aim. Now all that remains is for them to fire. For lovers of authentic, raw, soulful music and a great live show,
Primed are a must-see event.

"MCD Review"

"Dubfly Magazine Oct 2002"

Primed are a five-piece powerhouse from Dublin, who write all their own songs and produce enough noise to fill Croke Park. They have been gathering quite a following around Dublin with their brand of loudness.

Primed offer a little something different form the usual Pineapple headed clones and U2 hopefuls, their sound is more American based with a healthy twist of originality thrown in to confuse and amaze even more. Punky, rock based, inner-torments are spilled everywhere with a crescendo of noise from the skilled axe men and percussion section.

Chief song writer, Derek Reid, once of almost famous Medicine Man, is the focal point of the group. At times you worry about your own well being but his as well as he goads and scares the audience in equal measure by his sheer intensity and dead-eyed expression. He demands attention and almost certainly gets it; once he has you the music maintains your mind.

This band at times seemed to deeply despise one another as they trade sour glances and vicious guitar licks, whilst their lead singer loses his mind and drummer glides effortlessly through the guitar noise to stamp his own authority on the band.

The noise is immense and quite simply invigorating, all their original pieces from words to music is a credit to the band including the entirely instrumental ‘Dolphin’ which opens most sets and grimacing numbers like ‘Grief’, ‘Pain in blue’ and ‘One Big Lie’. Primed separate themselves from their challengers by virtue of their originality and musical discovery, they mould songs as a team from Derek Reid’s words to the music to suit his hurting. They’re primed for success. - Channelfly
