Brief Overview:
Principia is a hard rock band from Philadelphia. Its core members have been playing together since childhood. Each member has a wide range of influences but they all agree on their love for hard rock music and bands such as Van Halen, Metallica, and Guns and Roses. Their chemistry and passion for their craft makes them a musical force to be reckoned with.
The Beginning:
Principia is a hard rock band that formed in 2001 by Warren Kushner (lead guitarist and vocalist) and David Balcher (drummer). In 2003 Peter Wible (bassist) entered the band forming a trio. Their influences range from Van Halen, Metallica and guns and Roses to Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Dream Theatre, Radiohead etc…
High School years:
In 2007 they created their first serious demo that consisted of a cover of Master of Puppets and their original song, Good Times. They also created a series of songs that were excluded from the demo such as Rescue Me and Heart of Steel. They performed at various local venues such as Sacred Grounds and hosted the festival Gift of Rock.
College years:
When Warren went to college the band went on hiatus. The band however was not completely forgotten. They had intermittent shows at venues such as World Café Live. Warren also composed original songs like Red Black and Blue, Hey Laura, Weekend Warriors, Can You stay, etc…
Recent History:
They are presently more active than ever before. In November of 2012 they admitted Domenic (rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist). They are anticipating a release of their new demo in February 2013.
