Review(s):
“Amazingly authentic, she sings in French in a most coquettish way, the band play like members of Hot Club. Fun Stuff.”

"Jazz CD Reviews"

Badhwar has a husky, slightly breathless but appealing voice. The highlights for me were Jardin d'hiver and All I Really Want Is Love. She sings the ballad Jardin d'hiver expressively with fine accompaniment, particularly from David Pulkingham on guitar and Eddy Hobizal on keyboard. The arrangement owes a debt to Latin jazz (bossa nova). All I Really Want Is Love is an enjoyable cover of a Salvadore Poe song, once more delivered stylishly - Badhwar so much so, it brought to mind Stacey Kent's efforts in this field, praise indeed. Again, Pulkingham's guitar is prominent. For the rest, Maladie d'amour is taken briskly, after a gentle opening, and is sung with brio. Several tracks feature swing arrangements à la Hot Club De France. Those who appreciate that tradition will no doubt relish Mademoiselle, for instance, though I always feel bass and drums are a bit short-changed in this context, given the rather pedestrian nature of their duties.

"EP Review Mademoiselle"

EP Review: Priscilla Badhwar - Mademoiselle. Priscilla Badhwar (vcl); Eddy Hobwizal (pno/Rhodes); David Pulkingham (gtr); Daniel Durham (bs); Steve Schwelling (dms).
(Review by Lance).
An enigmatic CD/EP (20 minutes) recorded in Austin, Texas by a native of that city yet the only way to describe it is as Jazz Chanson. Badhwar sings almost completely in French and sounds as authentic as any chanteuse you may chance upon in a Montmartre Café - not a "y'awl' within earshot!
Much of the material consists of tried and tested pieces from Le grande recueil de chansons francais.
Mademoiselle (Henri Salvador); Boum! (Charles Trenet); Jardon d'hiver (Keren Ann); Plus Je T'embrasse (Blossom Dearie); Maladie d'Amour (Salvador); All I Really Want is Love (Salvador).
Such an appealing voice the words just curl around your heartstrings.
But where, I hear you ask, is the jazz?
The jazz comes in the lilting swing that pervades throughout, the Django-like guitar solos and the rhythmic piano contributions from Hobwizal. There's also a touch of Brazil in the mix.
Chamber jazz and none the worse for that it's one of the most charming discs I've heard this year.
I'm a sucker for a song sung in French!

This review is from: Mademoiselle (Audio CD)
One amazing lady and one phenomenal artist! Surrounded by art, dance, and music, Priscilla Badhwar grew up in Houston, Texas. She moved to Austin and attained her Bachelor of Arts in Music from The University of Texas at Austin. However, she did not stop there, though, putting her head down, working hard, and attaining a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. Over the years, she has developed a love for Brazilian and French jazz music. Her influences include the remarkable Blossom Dearie and the incomparable Henri Salvador. Of course, she cannot exclude the influences of artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Julie London, Frank Sinatra, Diana Krall, Madeline Peyroux, and so many more musical legends. Priscilla is vivacious, witty, and intelligent. Sometimes she is playful or quirky while other times wholesome and compassionate. Her character and versatility comes through in her singing.
Mademoiselle is a French Jazz Recording with a bit of a twist. The album contains six tracks that are comprised of works made popular by artists such as: Henri Salvador, Blossom Dearie, Charles Trenet, and Salvadore Poe. Most of the songs are in French and are filled with colors and textures from around the world, everything from uplifting swing tunes to sultry bossa nova grooves.

The ensemble is Priscilla Badhwar - vocals, Daniel Durham - bass, Eddy Hobizal - Piano and Rhodes, David Pulkingham - guitar, and Steve Schwelling - drums and percussion.

The tracks are as follows:

Mademoiselle
Boum!
Jardin d'hiver
Plus Je T'embrasse
Maladie d'Amour
All I Really Want Is Love

Priscilla Badhwar knows her way around, inside, and through the French idiom. Pay Attention to this collection if you love cabaret singing. Grady Harp, May 15 - Amazon.com
