Private Stock

BandRockReggae

Private Stock combines 2 of the best lead vocals you'll ever hear, blending rock, funk and reggae to create fun, rockin and intense songs to get the crowd going. Every song has it's own character lyrically and musically and whether the crowd is jamming hard or dancing, they always leave happy.

Biography

Private Stock is a quartet of hometown friends who started as an acoustic duo. Building a strong fan base along the way, Mike Squitieri and Steve Schurtz have worked on honing their style for 3 years, just recently adding Kevin Schwoer and Chris Wheeler on bass and drums.

Influenced by bands such as State Radio, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Audioslave and Nirvana what makes Private Stock stand out is their vocals.

A far cry from the everyday punk vocals prevalent in many bands, Mike and Steve have found just the right mix of smoothness and grit combining exceptional vocals. One a trained singer and one a natural, they blend their voices while also standing on their own. Backed by great rhythm an awesome guitar work, Private Stock never fails to impress.

Drag

Written By: Private Stock

I can't break away
Know you want me to
I can't make up lies, no
I do what I want to do
We don't have a prayer
if we're tuggin on each others sleeves
Wishin I was somewhere
you didn't decide for me

Walking alone, yesterday
First time in a while
since I could say that I'm on my own
My friends all say I'm tied up
Watch you get all riled up
When you're dragging me away

Baby having things in common
Other than I want you and you want me
Could make a world keep spinnin
Why can't we just let it be
Instead of running towards this wall
trying to edge each other out
It shouldn't be like this I tell you
It's not what it's all about

I can't break away
Know you want me to
I can't make up lies, no
I do what I want to do
We don't have a prayer
if we're tuggin on each others sleeves
Wishin I was somewhere
you didn't decide for me

If I told you what we're doing
Would you love me then
If I gave you orders like a general
Would you love me then
Look into your mirror if it doesn't crack
Then you could see what you do to me
Is so far gone we'll never make it through

Didn't expect your beauty to sink into my skin like it did
but I had to let you in
Your sweet sweet smile
Could hypnotize any man
Maybe you should find another loser
You can use the leash you used on me
I'm breaking away this time

I can't break away
Know you want me to
I can't make up lies, no
I do what I want to do
We don't have a prayer
if we're tuggin on each others sleeves
Wishin I was somewhere
you didn't decide for me

stop making me do it
I gotta stop letting you in
stop making me go na na na
I can't keep letting it go like this
No I'm breaking away

Hitman

Look at me
I'm no good

I've never left a tell tale sign on my hands

There's borrowed blood running through my veins
There's next to nothing for which I've paid
I got a little of something and most of it comes from you

We've got steel
nerves of undivided
Attention to each other
When we're getting what we want

But the words unsaid
Will break a lot bullshit down
If you'd call me out

We can't wait until they take me away
for you to realize who I am
We can't live our lives with
cloudy eyes
You gotta take it the way it is

Got no time to replace my mind
So you're not gonna change the way I think
And I've got no place to say what's up and down

So you give me no lip
and you tell me no lies
you just give me your kiss
on a lonely night
and I walk away
and you can't follow me

If you move I might shatter
everything you thought knew you when you took my name

Best we stay it don't matter in
the lovely little place that you stay in your mind in your mind

We can't wait until they take me away
for you to want me for me
You keep taking my heart so please just give it back
when it feels the way you want it to

No time to replace my mind
and you're not gonna change the way I think
And I've got no place to make you run and hide

So you give me no lip
and you tell me no lies
you just give me your kiss
on a lonely night
and I walk away
and you can't follow me

I'm no good I know I'm no good
I'm an evil brother
like a wolf in the woods
I got only one life
I'm gonna live it my way
Only gonna take it if you give it to me

Got no time to replace my mind
So you're not gonna change the way I think
And I've got no place to say what's up and down

So you give me no lip
and you tell me no lies
you just give me your kiss
on a lonely night
and I walk away
and you can't follow me

Control

Written By: Private Stock

I'm ready
I wanna go today
You keep making me wait
While we suffocate
I wanna go today

Everybody get in line
Let's check your spine
One by one
Let's get it done
One by one

This'll only take a moment

Don't make me wait this is not the end
I won't take your pills
But I've got the bends
You brought me up and you ripped me down
Now I can't breath

I'm ready
to put a bullet in their brain
powers only how you use it
Turn the lights out hunny
Before they catch us in our sleep

This'll only take a moment

Don't make me wait this is not the end
I won't take your pills
But I've got the bends
You brought me up and you ripped me down
Now I can't breath

I'm ready to fight
I'm ready to go
If I push you back you
better never come home
It's the end of your time here
They just want to know what you know then they'll put you away

Don't make me wait this is not the end
I won't take your pills
But I've got the bends
You brought me up and you ripped me down
Now I can't breath

You made me wait and I've come to the end
I won't take your pills
But now I'm suffocating
You brought me up and you ripped me down
Now I can't breath

I won't waste your time
I'll get out of line

Anna Marie

Written By: Private Stock

Clock strikes 1, the deed is done.
An innocent girl has become a criminal.
Not a witness there to testify.
From 1 to 2, when the day is through,
Anna Marie remains un-accused,
And makes her way to 4 and 5.

Hungry for peace, our mouths unfed.
The rebel in me will never be misled.
The lives you take, will hunt you ‘til the end.

Five men are dead, police amass evidence,
For a conviction without any plea.
The judge cries out, and the court room shouts.
Sentence is death for Anna Marie.

We could try to love one another again.
Sweep aside the hating and killing because,
We decide just how we will meet our end.
Leave behind the criminal life you led.

The day has come as the clock strikes 1,
The guilty woman approaches the chair.
In a world at peace, the situation would be,
A different life for Anna Marie.

The Fix

Written By: Private Stock

You think that I need some corrections.
You think that you can take care of me.
I think I’ll try a new direction.
You’re crazy if you think that you ever gonna get to me.
You give and I’ll take,
And I’ll lie in the wake,
Of this ugly disease you’ve given to me.
Should I cry or laugh?
I guess I’ll wait and see.

I don’t have a problem with you,
But you seem to have a problem with everyone.
Everybody says I’m broken,
Nobody’s really trying to fix me.

I don’t have a problem with you,
But you’ve given me plenty of reasons to.
The world weighs down upon my back,
And I don’t know what I should do.
You give, and I’ll take,
The poison you’ve made,
And I’ve made any awful mistake,
To believe that you’d ever try to fix me.

I don’t have a problem with you,
But you seem to have a problem with everyone.
Everybody says I’m broken,
Nobody’s really trying to fix me.

I aim to own my life again. I aim to clear my shoulders.
I aim to fix my broken mind. I aim to blow it all away.
I aim to be someone I knew. I aim to dry it out.
I aim to distrust the limits. I aim at you.
I aim, I aim, I aim, I aim,
I aim to shoot, and I aim to kill.

I don’t have a problem with you,
But you seem to have a problem with everyone.
Everybody says I’m broken,
Nobody’s really trying to fix me.

Cry Wolf

Written By: Private Stock

I’ve been takin’,
Lots of time to myself to get to know you.
And I’ve been thinkin’,
That I was a fool, too good to be true.
Love, you shoulda never have lied to me, love. No.
Love, you shoulda never have lied to me, no.

I’m mistakin’.
You said better or worse, but if it’s all the same to you,
You have taken,
Most of my life and I don’t know what should do.
Love, you shoulda never have lied to me, love. No, no, no.
Love, you shoulda never have lied to me, no.

It coulda been,
And it shoulda been anything you wanted it to be.
It might have been,
If I had been half of what was expected of me.
This’ll be the last time you cry wolf, cry wolf.
This’ll be the last time you cry wolf.

I’m mistaken,
I thought you were to blame for the hurt in my life,
But I admit it,
You fooled me more times than I had realized.
Love, you shoulda never have lied to me, love. No, no, no.
Love, you shoulda never have lied to me, no.

Scratch

Eddie O’Keefe was the luckiest man that ever did live.
He won the lottery twice,
He never lost a game of cards,
And had the most beautiful wife.
Ever he lived in the best of health,
Never even a scratch upon his head.
And after a long, long life,
Even lucky Eddie ended up dead.

Eugene Hicks was born across the tracks,
Other side of town.
He never had a real shot.
Always bein’ kicked around, always bein’ put down,
Always bein’ let down, forever be a ghetto clown.
Now Eugene lives on the corner of Pacific and 31st.
He’s addicted to drugs, has never know love,
And doesn’t have an ounce of luck.
He spends each day sittin’ on the corner beggin’ for change.
Scratchin’ that skin.
Waiting for the next time he will feel ok.

People, people,
Gathered in the street.
A whole world of different people,
I’ll never get to meet.
People, people,
And your beautiful dreams.
All life reaches the same end,
Just by a different means.

Albert Grey was a regular old peaceful kinda man.
Same job, same car, same house,
As everybody else in the neighborhood.
A little dim of wit, people call him dumb,
And they might just be right.
He turns on the bad news,
And gets an update on the world wide fist fight.
Land, money, love, and hate, and the he-said-she -said game.
Mr. Grey sits back in his chair, and scratches his face.
If everybody was dumb like me,
The world might just be a more peaceful place.

People, people,
Gathered in the street.
A whole world of different people,
I’ll never get to meet.
People, people,
And your beautiful dreams.
All life reaches the same end,
Just by a different means.

So any old girl or guy,
Who’s black or white, or up or down,
We’re gonna need some faith,
Whether you believe in science or saints.
Hold steady the hand of Eddie, Eugene, and Mr. Grey,
‘Cause by a small turn of luck,
It might just be your hand some day.

People, people,
Gathered in the street.
A whole world of different people,
I’ll never get to meet.
People, people,
And your beautiful dreams.
All life reaches the same end,
Just by a different means.

The Truth About Death and Dying

Written By: Private Stock

I’ve heard of selling your soul to the devil.
What about selling your soul to the Lord?
For a nickel of dime they can both have what’s mine,
‘Cause I don’t know what to believe anymore.
In the past few years I think I’ve come to fear,
The stories that other people are buying.
A small price to pay, just throw your life away,
And learn the truth about death and dying.

Everything I know, I know I’ve been told,
But it’s for me to decide what is right.
But some people it seems are leaving me in the dark,
As they make all haste towards the light.
I wanna know, the price of your soul,
Do you think it’s more expensive than mine?
If we all have loved and we all have sinned,
Then what’s the truth about death and dying?

I gave it all, but you took as much,
Now you got me low, low, low.
After all, you told me to get gone,
But you know I ain’t got no place to go.
You must believe what other men have said,
‘Cause they said their words were heaven sent.
You must believe the truth is killin’ me,
As you collect your healthy dividend.
Mother Mary, Brother John,
Now you got me low, low, low.
I’ll find some room at another table,
You know I ain’t got no place to go.
I know your rules and I recite them well,
Your cannons ring across the land.
But in all these words I can’t find no truth,
So it’s back to the beginning again.

Fall out, fall back, my mind is under attack,
And I don’t know what it is I should do.
Never fear what you know, just pretend that you don’t,
Have any reason to believe in the truth.
Hate you, I don’t. Give a damn, I won’t,
Let you believe for a second you’re better than me.
I’m pretty, I’m ugly, I’m somewhere in between,
And I’ll need you to explain just what you mean.
I wanna know, the price of your soul,
Do you think it’s more expensive than mine?
If we all have loved and we all have sinned,
Then what’s the truth about death and dying?

Alone
Let go of my center
Alone
Let go my breath
Alone
Keep going faster
Alone
Keep short of rest

I'm a lot like you
Let go my center
I can see straight through
Let go my center
I'll take care of you
Let go you'll take me
I'll take care of you

Get out of my hair
Get out of my head
You replace yourself
Just as quick as you came in

Pull me through the fire
Pull me through the flames
Tighten up the wire
Living in the pain

You just say the word
I'll be comin home
There is nothing in this place
and I'll beat it back alone

Pull me through the fire
Pull me through the flames
Tighten up the wire
Living in the pain

When you push me out
I'll be honing in
When you hear me shout
There won't be any time to turn

Pull me through the fire
Pull me through the flames
Tighten up the wire
Living in the pain

Wake
It's time to wake up
Wake
Our ground is breakin
Wake
This time we've taken
Wake
I'm gonna wake

Cuz I want to be there
When you open up your eyes
