Biography

Prizefighter defines rock! Their intricate blend of screaming guitars, pounding rhythms, vocal hooks, and melodius harmonies sets them apart in the industry. Not failing to mention their passion. With every beat they produce comes a wave of emotion that makes an impact on everyone who hears it. Prizefighter began its musical journey in the Fall of 1997. What began as a way to pass the time in the small suburban town of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, quickly became a way of life for 4 young men. Josh Porter (bass, vocals), Billy Young (drums), Adam Hernandez (lead guitar), and Jon LaFevers (guitars, vocals) began selling out venues in the Tulsa area, and quickly made quite a name for themselves. They had their spot, they just needed to know what to do with it. Over the course of the next few years, Prizefighter searched hard to find their niche in the music realm. They changed styles often, but just couldn't seem to find what they were looking for. But as the music came and went, two things stayed the same: the four guys who called themselves Prizefighter (then Element Five) stayed as close as brothers, and their fans followed them wherever they went. As the members of Prizefighter matured, so did their music. They recorded three studio projects, but none of them seemed to encompass what the band was all about. Then, in the Spring of 2002, something clicked. Prizefighter found their sound. They started playing shows, and were getting great reviews on the new music. So they decided to take their act nationwide. Due to a long string of broken promises and false opportunities, Prizefighter decided to take matters into their own hands. They bought a 1989 school bus and booked a summer tour. 34 dates, 5 major festivals, 13 states, and 6 blown out tires later, Prizefighter was a force to be reckoned with in the indie market. Not a contest went un-won, not a venue went un-rocked, and not a single person left a Prizefighter show unchanged. Following regional success from their latest EP, "The Closet Rockstar", including their first nationwide release ,"I Kissed Dating Goodbye", and not to mention a nationwide summer tour that included over 60 performances, Prizefighter looks to start off the 2005 year with a run at making the big time, and rocking out with the best.
