Bio
With a deep-rooted style and the feeling of a front porch welcome on a hot summer day, Worth Proffitt and Donnie Sandidge perform traditional blues music that captures you in a moment of time when life was simple, work was hard, money was tight, and all you want to do is hop a freight train to the next town to see your gal!
Influenced by all the blues greats like Mississippi Fred McDowell, Honeyboy Edwards, Big Joe Williams, Lightnin' Hopkins, and Sonny Boy Willamson, Worth and Donnie also combine their great affection of jazz and gospel music in their performances, which undoubtedly adds to the authenticity of the music.
Worth Proffitt (electric and acoustic guitars) and Donnie Sandidge (vocals and harmonica) started performing together in 2001 and have been regulars on the scene of Central Virginia and the surrounding areas ever since. In 2002, Proffitt & Sandidge placed in the top three of the James River Blues Society's annual Blues Talent Competition and was an immediate audience favorite.
In the spring of 2003, Proffitt & Sandidge released their first CD, Learned the Hard Way and are currently working on their second CD.
