"CD Review"

P.Jones
Has a band ever chomped harder at the bit for success than P.Jones? As the four-piece Clarksville group covers an ever-widening circle of the Southeast,P.Jones sharpens its not-too-grungy, not-too-sweet pop rock within an inch of perfection, taking in more fans with every swath. The sleeve inside the band's debut record,FOR BETTER OR WORSE, is filled with grainy, personal snap-shots of friends, family and rock-n-roll adventures. Not so precious is the disc's music, led by Wes Newborn's rumbling, scratchy vocals and driven by heavy-hitting guitar work from Newborn and Jerry Allen. The P stands for "project," but the band already feels less like a work in progress and more like a full-fledged rock outfit. (Paige M. Travis) - Knoxville Metro Pulse

Bio

UPDATE:P.Jones was recently nominated for "Best Alternative Band" and "Album Of The Year" for 2006 by 102.9 The Buzz in Nashville,TN. P.Jones will also make their second trip to Austin, TX for SXSW as part of The Red Gorilla Music Fest, March 2007!!

If you were to ask Project Jones what kind of band they are, they would simply tell you, "we're a little Rock-n-roll band." A lot of critics and fans, and the city of Nashville, would disagree. In 2004, P. Jones, as they are affectionately called, won a "BATTLE OF THE BANDS" sponsored by Nashville's biggest rock station 102.9 THE BUZZ and MILLER LITE, which landed them on stage at RIVERSTAGES, Nashville's largest outdoor music festival. The band followed that performance with a solid set at BUZZFEST 5, 102.9's huge annual Rock festival which is held at STARWOOD AMPHITHEATRE. At the end of 2005, Project Jones was voted "BEST ALTERNATIVE ROCK BAND OF 2005" in Nashville by THE BUZZ, call-in, and on-line voters. On top of this list of achievements, P. Jones has continued to play and travel relentlessly. They have traveled all over the southeast, up and down the East coast, and traveling as far West as Texas, where they played to a receptive crowd at Austin’s annual SOUTH-BY-SOUTHWEST MUSIC CONFERENCE. In between all the traveling, they have managed to record and release two independent albums. "FOR BETTER OR WORSE" was released in August of 2004, going on to sell well over 2000 copies nationally. It was added to over 300 college radio stations, charting in the "Top 10" on over 50 of them, and reaching NUMBER 1 on 15 stations. In addition, MTV licensed all of the tracks from the album, featuring one of them on an episode of "REAL WORLD/ROAD RULES CHALLENGE". The most recent effort from the group, "THE LUCKY ONES", was officially released on June 11th to a sold-out, over-capacity EXIT/IN, Nashville’s premiere rock venue. With College and USO tours lined up for the fall of 2006, the band stands ready to continue its success in the southeast region, as well as reaching new cities and making new fans across the pond, as USO will take them overseas! Keep your eyes and ears open for Project Jones.... they WILL be coming to a city near you!!
