Bio

Fresh out of the studio with Producer and West Texas Guitar Legend, Scott Faris, The Proud Cut Ponies are poised to leave a lasting impression on the Texas Music scene.
Collectively, this Lubbock, Texas foursome combines separate influences and different stylistic upbringings into a soulful blend of original songs chock full of emotional and personal lyrics and vocals, searing guitar licks, smooth bass lines, and deep pocket drums and percussion. Drawing from their peers, and from those who came before them, The Proud Cut Ponies have sculpted a sound all their own.
Corby Owens, the band's lead singer, cultivated his stellar songwriting chops listening and learning from the likes of Aaron Lewis, Cory Morrow and Pat Green. He began his career in music sharing the stage as a backup singer with several big acts around West Texas.
Jamie Berryhill, Lead Guitarist of the band, started his path in music as a young teenager emulating all of his guitar heroes. That eventually led to years of lessons, and then the well known Music Education Program at South Plains college in Levelland, Texas.
Drake Hayes, the band's Bassist, had his mind made up from an early age that music was his passion, and his career choice. After having success in other bands, His path crossed with Corby and Jamie while they were an Acoustic duo in Lubbock. He was invited to join the band.
Roy Stout, Drummer, rounds out the lineup. A Retired Marine, and a 40 year veteran of the instrument, he began his music career as a young man in 1965 in fort Sumner, New Mexico.
Together, this group has molded a live show and sound that appeals to a wide range of listeners and spectators. Slowly, but surely they are carving their niche' into the Texas Music Scene, and they hope that through hard work they can continue to gain a loyal following and be a part of this historic music movement for many years to come!
