Ps147

The band name Ps147 actually comes from Psalm 147 relative to verses 1 and 7. Musical influences range from Third Day, and Newsboys to secular influences such as U2, CCR, The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Tommy Bolin. Even the 60's British rock invasion! Each member of the band hails from different genres of music. Ps147 is a very eclectic and talented group of musicians. Their approach to music is adult oriented Christian rock and roll. So very many of the "baby boomers" grew up on rock and roll as did the members of the band. They listened to and learned to play like their secular favorites. Now as Christians, they still love that straight forward rock groove and continue to call upon that influence. But Ps147 offers a positive Christian outlook rather than that offered by secular rock and roll.

The inception of the group was roughly a year long process with Bobby and Ron steadily adding and changing members with more and more talent. Ron and Bobby are the original members of the group. Being a Christian band they were looking for the best talent they could find. They sought a skill level above the average player and they accomplished this by first bringing David "DJ"Jordan into the mix. Many people play drums, but few are true drummers like DJ.

Now being three, they set out on the journey to find a singer. The prospective singer would have to carry his own weight and have the much needed musical skills and talent to be the frontman for the musical intensity these three guys can create. That was easily done when they discovered Pete and the vocal skills he brings to the band. Ron, Bobby and David's prayers were doubly blessed as Pete can sing and is a formidable guitarist. Ps147 was beginning to jell. But there was an element of the band missing that none of the now four members had given thought to. They had talked about a piano player. Through the work of God, Mike called Bobby. An organ player. They talked about getting together to see what would unfold. They set a jam date with the band. Only God knew to put a Hammond organ player with Mike's skills in this band. From the first couple of notes everyone knew Mike would complete the mix that God had planned! How did they know this? Because all members of Ps147 believe God gave His best on the cross. His Son Jesus Christ. From those early beginings Bobby and Ron knew that Ps147 was to be and do God's work. They knew now the band could give God back the BEST it had to offer! This is done many times over with the line up of guys in the band.

Ps147 has a very high caliber of musicians most of which were formerly in secular heavy metal, 80's big hair, techno pop or blues bands. This background and their many influences along with their love for Jesus Christ is what sets them apart from many secular bands and even other bands in the CCM industry. They will never be known as shy about being Christians or ashamed of their love for Jesus Christ.

This band is able to preform in churches as a praise team, youth functions, church social functions, and of course the first love of the band; outdoor festivals! These guys are professional with the set up, soundcheck, stage show, music and attitude. They can fill your Christian music entertainment needs.
