Bio

As far back as anyone can remember, Psalmist, Deborah Edwards has been ministering the songs of zion to Gods people. She comes from a family of ministers. She began singing to the glory of God as a child. At the age of eleven she found herself at the Temple Church of Christ in Saint Louis, Mo., under the direction of her mother, where she yet worships. She has sang in youth choirs, young adult choirs, chancel and adult choirs, always astounding the congregation with her music ministry for Praise and Worship, with particular emphasis on the Ministry of Worship.

Deborah grew up listening to gospel artists such as The Hawkins, The Winans, Andre Crouch, Richard Smallwood Singers, Thomas Whitfield, Sandy Patti, Amy Grant and James Cleveland.

Early in her adult life she began singing with a group called Edwards, Brown and Houston. This group opened for some nationally known artist such as The Winans at the Victory Center and The Richard Smallwood Singers at Powell Symphony Hall. She later began performing as a solo artist.

Deborah has been called on to perform on many occasions in her home town. She has also performed in concert for a college, ministering in their First Gospel Extravaganza. She frequently ministers in song for Praise and Worship, special services, such as weddings, banquets, anniversary services, as well as home-going celebrations. She is called on to minister locally, in Women Conferences, Sunday School Conferences and Pentecostal Mid-Western District Council Services. She's opened for the Gospel Comedian “Bonz” and has sang on the UPN Broadcasting Television Network on their Victory In Praise cable broadcast, which was shown in St. Louis, Illinois and other surrounding cities. She has also ministered on KNLC's Channel 24, which is a local television broadcasting network called The New Life Evangelistic Center. This center ministers to the needs of homeless and hurting families throughout the St. Louis area and surrounding areas.

She ministers for pastors anniversaries, special birthday celebrations as well as retirement parties. Local radio personalities and announcers have called on her for their special services. When she was a member of the Missouri Gospel Announcers Guild (GAG), she sang at their Grand Opening Celebration, receiving a standing ovation. Her tone of music has been known to be spiritual, passionate, uplifting and earnest, as is her life for God. Her voice has been anointed by God to bring comfort to many bereaved and hurting families during difficult times and has been instrumental in many giving their lives to Christ. She ministers yearly in concert, which is sponsored by different ministries of her home church for their fund raising projects.

Deborah has been found loyally serving the music ministry at her home church. She has served as the President, Assistant Director of Music, and the Director of Music. She served as the Music Administrator and the Minister of Discipleship. She currently serves in the Ministry of Music concerning Praise & Worship and their Vocal Minister of Music.

After ministering in song for many years, the Lord extended his favor by blessing Deborah with her first Praise & Worship, CD entitled, “NO CROSS, NO CROWN”, on August 4, 2002. God showed favor to her again, moving on her behalf in 2004, two whole years later, when he blessed one of the selections from her CD to be #23 in the Top "50 songs" of the year for Gospel 1600 Radio Station song entitled "He's For Me".

Deborah is trusting in the Lord to continue to utilize the ministry that he has entrusted to her, as it has always been her desire to sing for God and God alone. Her prayer has been for him to take the music that he has given her and use it to minister to the hearts, minds and souls of his people, causing changes to take place in their lives.

Psalmist Deborah's daughters Nakesha & Nicole formerly called True Worship began to minister in song with their mom in the year of 2000. At that time they did a single CD entitled "You Are God", this song has not been released but is now in reproduction. They have also performed in a large number of functions, programs and concerts throughout the St. Louis area.

This psalmist wants to be instrumental in souls running to the mercy seat, the lost returning to him and the hurting to find refuge in the times of troubles and peace in the times and midst of their storms.

Her title song alone encourages the heart and causes one to realize that regardless to what we as God’s people may have to go through, no matter how heavy the burden, challenge, struggle or persecution, we have a victory in knowing the Lord. And, as long as we submit to God and resist the devil, we will receive that crown of life that God has prepared for those who love him.
