"Psychic Love's Mirrors // Medicine"

It’s fitting that Psychic Love emerge from Los Angeles, the one city where the hollow prophesy of the psychic hotline might come true. The band offers an ethereal soundtrack to a city dotted by as many medical marijuana dispensaries as DIY-Spanish-language Pentecostal churches, sometimes side by side in its endless strip malls, all patrons blissfully numb from self-medication, where the realest pain affects phantom limbs and “in a hall of mirrors / everything gets much clearer.”

Their single’s cover art, a simple black-and-white photograph of masked men descriptively titled “Nixon, Ford, Death, 1976,” snapped by noted Los Angeles ‘70s youth culture photographer Mark James Powers at the Human Be-in in Sacramento, sets the tone for Mirrors // Medicine. The first track on their new 7-inch, “Mirrors,” couples dark guitar with front-woman Laura Peters’ lush and textured vocals, which manage to balance world-weary knowing with hopeful naïveté. The syncopated beat of B-side “Medicine” endows its creepiness—Exhibit A: it’s recurring chorus of “You would be so much happier if I’d just drink my medicine”—with enough propulsion to arrive at the imagery of everyday speech, “killing ants on the tile floor,” and then our ordinary hyperbole, “you love all that blood and gore.” - Molossus

"Ears Wide Open: Psychic Love"

The first single from the forthcoming album by Psychic Love is like being wrapped in something warm and fuzzy and suspended over Echo Park Lake. “The Weekend” is the work of singer-songwriter Laura Peters and producer Erick Jordan, who became roommates in 2013 and began penning four-minute dream-pop miniatures. That year, they released the 7-inch “Mirrors” (b/w “Medicine”), recorded at The Ship Studio. Then, in addition to Peters’ collaboration in the Most Best, Psychic Love embarked on making the full-length “The Hive Mind,” due in November. Fun facts: The band has been doing underground shows at Vega’s Meat Market in Echo Park at which attendees get a card from the “Psychic Love Deck” allowing them to preview a new song. Also, the band’s name derives from a 1-900 hotline that Jordan’s father owned in the 1990s. Psychic Love, however, doesn’t sound like they’re phoning it in. - Buzzbands LA

"Psychic Love Release New Single "The Weekend""

Los Angeles based dream-grunge duo, Psychic Love, announce the release of their new single, “The Weekend,” from their debut album, The Hive Mind, out this November.

Comprised of Laura Peters (vocals) and Erick Jordan (production), Psychic Love creates music that sends you into a dream-like state, resonating with you long after you’ve finished listening.
Dream grunge duo, Psychic Love, announce the release of their newest single, “The Weekend,” from their upcoming debut album, The Hive Mind, out November 2015. The band name was inspired by a 1-900 psychic hotline number that producer Erick Jordan’s dad owned in the 90s.
Psychic Love consists of members Laura Peters (vocals) and Erick Jordan (production). The duo became roommates in 2013, where they began writing songs together at home, subsequently marking the birth of Psychic Love. They went on to record Mirror/Medicine, a two track 7” at The Ship Studio in Echo Park in the Spring of 2013. In anticipation of the upcoming record release, Peters hosts a free party once a month at Vega’s Meat Market (formerly a butcher shop) in Echo Park. The show series features live performances by local bands as well as Psychic Love, where they premiere a new single each month from their upcoming album. Upon arrival, guests are each handed a card from the Psychic Love Deck, allowing them to preview and stream a song from the album.
Their next show at Vega’s Meat Market will be on August 22nd. Be sure to check out their newest single, “The Weekend,” and stay tuned for more from their upcoming album, The Hive Mind! - Nerdy Frames

"New Music / Psychic Love - 'The Weekend'"

At first, I though I could expect something heavily psychedelic and ecstatic from this act. What I got was a retro, dreamy sound, which I fell in love with.

Psychic Love are a hella amazing duo, and ‘The Weekend’ – which is a lovely gem from their upcoming album The Hive Mind (out this November) – is definitely a song that should encourage you to listen to their other pieces, ‘Medicine‘ and ‘Mirrors‘, both can be found on their Soundcloud.

They call themselves a dream grunge duo, but well; I think I could eventually call their sound a glam & shy psychedelia – just to fulfil my constant need of psychedelic tunes in my life. - Queen Beetch
