"Psycho Babble Sounding Off ep"

Psycho Babble
- 'Sounding Off' E.P.

Released: 24th April 2006
Label: Unsigned
Whilst looking like an e.p. in its own right, this is actually a sample of their debut full length of the same name (available now). Their press release states 'Welcome to the Psycho-Babble experience', suggesting that it is something quite wonderful that has 'been rarely seen since the 'halcyon days'' of the 1960s. However, although you could imagine them playing to a large crowd in the summer heat at Glastonbury or V Festival, it is nothing that has been done before.

Most bands like to consider themselves as 'similar but different' to other music available but unfortunately so much has been done before that there is not much room left for originality. Though this review is not about the press release. The music is actually quite addictive and likeable. You can almost hear the imaginary festival crowd cheer after the third track, 'Starman'.

Whenever listened to, this music brings feelings of summer with its festival sound perhaps best experienced in that environment. So perhaps the 'Psycho-Babble experience' is not necessarily in the music itself but rather the atmosphere that their appearance at an outdoor summer show would bring.

I wouldn't be surprised if they start appearing at smaller festivals and begin working their way through the circuit perhaps warming up the Glastonbury or V Festival crowds one day.

Feeling a bit camera shy
