Biography

Crossing the lines of style and genre, Psycle, a four piece powerhouse, perfects a mix of old and new school stylings to create an explosive, heavy, groove rock based sound with influences ranging from Tool, Alice in Chains and the Deftones to Pink Floyd, Parliament, Electric Light Orchestra and more.

Lead singer Paul Fenner's uniquely styled vocals command the listener's attention both live and in recordings. With an emotional yet powerful sound coupled with an enormous stage presence, Paul is easily able to captivate a diverse audience. The broad influence base of the creative musical core of the band builds a solid foundation upon which Paul is able to set his theatrical throne.

Psycle track seamlessly from heavy, groove laden riff rock with haunting melodic elements into moody, gut wrenching orchestrations all with relative ease. Musically, the band's goal is to hook the listener with not only catchy, but well thought out songs that compliment the lyrical content. Psycle's sound is best described as sometimes dark, often heavy, occasionally pop-like but always powerful and impassioned. The image of the band reflects its rock n' roll roots and darker eclectic side while still embodying the youthfulness of its members.

Psycle are no strangers to big shows. Participating in events and sharing the stage with acts such as Godsmack, Incubus, Staind, 3 Doors Down, The Gin Blossoms, Alterbridge, Sevendust, M.C. Hammer, Twisted Sister, Shinedown, 30 Seconds to Mars, etc., they are merely one well placed opportunity away from obtaining thier own national success.

A catchy, diverse, and powerful sound combined with a strong work ethic is what Psycle has to offer to their fans as well as industry professionals alike. Psycle are currently signed with Deep South Digital for electronic distribution and are always seeking additional professional interest groups or major label interest. The band has one self titled release available through emusic, itunes or www.cdbaby.com. and a second record "Sins of Angels" has just been released and is under a digital distribution contract with Deep South records.

Psycle's music is featured in two full length independant films. One is Charlotte local film maker Adam Fox's "Circling Serita" (hitting the festival circuit in september) with two song placements and the other is local film group Peoplefoodfilms' "Chickenheart" as the sound of the movie's focal point, a band called Chickenheart. Psycle is also in regular rotation on 106.5's 90 Minutes.

Lyrics

Wilted Thin

Written By: Paul Fenner

Wilted thin (x2), no room to breathe in.
Soaking in (x2), my own extinction.
Dull and faint but so damn understanding, is this dirt (x2) that I stand in.

I can't breathe in, no room to breathe in.

Well, I'm hollowed and sold, underneath you now and still falling.
Wearied trodden and siezed the bottom, underneath you now and still falling.

Quiet now(x2), it's so enchanting.
I am dried up now, dusted and borrowed.
Yesterday (x2) same as tomorrow.
These vacant eyes don't see a next time.

I can't breathe in, no room to breathe in.

Well, I'm hollowed and sold, underneath you now and still falling.
Wearied trodden and siezed the bottom, underneath you now and still falling.
Sinking down deep, deep down inside.
Letting it rape me, drag me down.
It's quiet now, so enchanting, it's so quiet down here.

It's so quiet down here.

Escaping my string lips, a stolen breath is a wisp.
Pathetic sight of sunken eyes, I send good riddance, I send good riddance.
Unsure, unsound on shaking legs, I send good riddance, I'm still waiting.

Hollowed and sold, borrowed and cold, underneath you now and still falling.
Wearied trodden and siezed the bottom, underneath you now and still falling.
Sinking down deep, deep down inside, letting it rape me, drag me down.
It's quiet now, so enchanting, it's so quiet down here.

Cobalt Blue

Written By: Paul Fenner

Cobalt and blue, I sink in to you.
No words in my memory could label this capsule of time, a glimpse so sublime, within blinks I am left so unable.

Carefully measured, a moment like treasure, as if we had shaped precious jewels. An unconcious thing, evil flower in spring, had unfolded to disrupt the view.

Cobalt and Blue, (I sink in you)
I sink into you.
Cobalt and Blue, (I sink in you)
I sink into you, yes I sink into you.

To tell beyond words, a shape so absurd, a mosiac of indigo pieces.
So perfect and pale, cold skin, golden hair, unforgiving for all the right reasons.

(repeat chorus)

(Take this moment)
The reality burns, burned it's change in me.
(Take this moment)
Voiceless and spent, now she's content to...
(Take this moment)
The reality burns, burned it's change in me.
(Take this moment)
Now she's posed like an angel descending.

Cobalt and Blue, (I sink in you)
I sink into you.
Cobalt and Blue, (I sink in you)
I sink into you, yes I sink into you.

Voicless and spent, now she's content.
The reality burns, burned it's change in me. (take this moment)
Now she's posed like an angel descending.
Cobalt and Blue, (Take this moment)
I sink in to you.
Cobalt and Blue, (Take this moment)
I sink in to you, yes I sink into you.

Chasing Stars

Written By: Paul Fenner

Supposing we chased those endless stars
way past the reefs and breakers
Would we be better off than we are
favored by love…

To never have known what it was to be
something other than hungry
You’re grey blue eyes, they call to the sea,
eyes like the rings of eternity

The ebb and the flow (of lives and of souls)
The rise and the fall, the death of us all…

Supposing we chased those endless stars
way past the reefs and breakers
Would we be better off than we are
favored by love and the graces

Believing in things with needles for teeth,
that wait in the deep with mouths wide open
Of fears and of scars, we are what we are,
angels that fell from the heavens

The weal and the woe (of what we have known)
The sober encore of splendors we’ve known

Chorus

And we’re reaching for the stars, with the arms of a mountain
And we’re speaking of our love, with the mouth of the ocean

We are what we are… and nothing more

Chorus

We are what we are…
(Angels that fell from the heavens)
and nothing more

Fireflies

Written By: Paul Fenner

Countryside spread out before them,
Suffused moonlight that sifted through
Like departing clouds that fear the morning’s eyes
Providing no comfort with the view

Lying supine, in peaceful poses
This Motionless multitude
Useless wreckage, peppered with ashes
Face down or kneeling, kneeling at the pew

Well I’ll scream it from the mountain top
This bloody dying mountain… top
Lift from the ashes, Fly to the heavens, Leaving forgiveness
There go the fireflies
There go the fireflies

Smoldering ballet of disillusion
Evaporates into darkness above
Like an oceanic elocution,
They flew with bloody currents far beneath

So much for love, so much for beauty
Like a silluette it’s black and empty
Finding peace in the calming dances
Fireflies sift up to heaven

Chorus

Choking breaths and unsure steps
Well, it’s a matter of time, like a withering vine
The splendor of the fireflies

Chorus

Stepping over corpses and ashes
There go the fireflies… the fireflies

Effervescence

Written By: Paul Fenner

Evaporating into the darkness above
Effervescence, so much for love
Down to the bone and nowhere else to cut
Effervescence, so much for love

Someone has to be, the martyr, the martyr
Someone left to bleed, well then I want her, I want her

Out of breath and out of faith
What was left has been laid to waste

Permitted her illusions, what a comfort
Effervescence, so much for love
Promised a lesson her bones would remember
Effervescence, so much for love

Someone has to be, the martyr, the martyr
Someone left to bleed, well then I want her, I want her

Out of breath and out of hate
What was left has been laid to waste

Ef-fer-ves-cence
(Sing her a song, oh troubadour)
Ef-fer-ves-cence
(Just another love song, to comfort her, just another love song)

And the body fell harder…

A fallen martyr
And her whole world goes black
A father’s daughter
And there’s no turning back
(it fades to black0

Promised a lesson that her bones would remember
and all that’s left is effervescence
Down to the bone and nowhere else to cut
now all that’s left is effervescence
