Relying on a delicate balance of downtuned fuzz and lonely twang, emo revival band PTY CAT’s signature sound combines heartland sensibility with 90s guitar rock scuzz. Both sardonically self-aware and achingly vulnerable, PTY CAT confronts struggles with mental illness and isolation in no uncertain terms. With a marked sense of cynicism, PTY CAT stands apart from Brooklyn contemporaries.
Initially conceived as a demo project by Alan Kingsbury, the recruitment of fellow multi-instrumentalists Nicholas Kohomban and Noah Schoer through a Craigslist post led to the band’s formation in the fall of 2018. Rounded out by the addition of drummer Anton Bykov, the the group officially launched in the spring of 2019.
The band’s debut album, Get Lost, was recorded in Kohomban’s Hudson Valley home studio during the winter of that year. With its distinct DIY production, the record evokes imagery from dirty and forgotten Brooklyn alleys to rusty and isolated upstate backroads. Preceded by the titular lead single, Get Lost will be released in digital and physical formats this summer.Band Members
