"Seattle Weekly Recommended Show"

Pudding is a Northeast Seattle band consisting of a Catholic-schooled 12-year-old guitarist and his theater-dork dad on drums and vocals. They are playing a free all-ages show at an ice-cream parlor on Saturday. Again, the name of the band is Pudding, and it's fronted by a 12-year-old. So it might surprise you to learn that Pudding plays heavy rock. "Not Your Name" is indistinguishable from vintage Soundgarden, with Joe Mele's lead vocals worlds removed from his high-school turn as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof or as a member of the Coats, an a cappella group which changed its name from the Trenchcoats after the Columbine massacre. Meanwhile, young Joey Mele raises suspicions about whether he was sired by a Van Halen instead of his namesake father. Best of all, Full Tilt sells beer alongside its designer ice cream, which means one thing, and it's the best thing in the world: beer floats! With David Vlasaty - The Seattle Weekly

Bio

Pudding is a Seattle band led by father and son team Joe and Joey Mele. Joey sets the tone with powerful, infectious guitar riffs. Joe holds the rhythmn with strong drumming and crisp vocals. They are joined by experienced musicians Chip Asbury on bass and Matthew Watson on guitar.

The Seattle Weekly recently profiled our band as one of their Recommended Shows, and commented that our sound is "indistinguishable from early Soundgarden." http://www.seattleweekly.com/2011-03-30/music/this-week-s-recommended-shows/2/

Pudding’s style evokes the best of Seattle rock. Our set music is a fun, hard-driving mix of rock, punk, grunge, and pop. Mostly original sets are complimented by original-sounding covers of Green Day, 311, The Proclaimers and Rick Springfield.

Joe is a former member of national-touring act The Coats, and shared the stage with such acts as Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Black Happy, TLC, The Beach Boys, and Tanya Tucker. The Seattle-based group won the National Harmony Sweepstakes in 1994 when Joe was a member.

Pudding is a thoroughly professional and personable group. Promoter Ken Davidson says: " . . . you certainly delivered, your enthusiasm topped only by your talent. It was fun to watch Joey shred . . . Your presence was very professional, your crowd was great, and business was awesome that night. Anytime you want to book another show, let me know and we will set it up."
