"eXs at Bar Music Hall"

Bar Music Hall plays host to eXs, an eclectic night of DJ’s and live bands courtesy of the Hoxton Lab team. Here you’re just as likely to hear DJ’s from Europe’s largest fetish night Torture Garden as up and coming electronic/indie bands.

Bar Music Hall may not spring to mind immediately to many people when thinking of nights out in Shoreditch, however despite stiff competition from its neighbours eXs manages to draw in a considerable crowd on this Friday night, especially when you consider the size of the bar. Ample seating, a large bar in the middle and a stage that is tucked away in a corner make up the simple arrangements.

Tonight it appears that the crowd is mostly made up of after work drinkers and East London groupies, but luckily for them they’ve arrived somewhere with music that’s worth listening to.

Filthy electro comes courtesy of Loadfram with singer Ragdoll providing suitably deadpan vocals, whilst Shake Aletti play unashamedly 80’s fun synth pop, which they describe as ‘pop funk’. The Sheffield duo have something of Hot Chip about them, albeit a less moody version. Kate Way from Festival of Sins DJ’s in between bands and leads up to grand finale Puncture Kit, a drummer who plays drum and bass beats on a drum kit assembled on a bicycle. By this point every young man in the venue is on the floor and jumping up and down. - All In LOndon.co.uk

Bio

Puncture Kit is a mix of energetic drum n bass/ jungle/ breaks and dance beats that David plays on a drum kit/ bicycle that he also rides. These beats are all played to original and bootleg dancey electronica, providing a full stage show lasting about 45min.
Past performances have been Glastonbury Dance Village 2009, Concorde2 Brighton, support for the Bays, Edinburgh and Brighton Festivals to name a few.

Puncture Kit live shows have a cross over sound that would appeal to people that like the music of Chase and Status / 2many DJ’s / Aphex Twin / Daedelus / Led Zepplin / JoJo Mayer / Prodigy / Adam Freeland, all with punk and live jungle influenced breakbeats injected with Brazilian street percussion, and played on his custom built bicycle drum kit.

The mix of Axel Castro’s drum and bass production and engineering together with David’s tight, varied beats ensures a quality and dynamic show.
Because of the uniqueness of the act, Puncture Kit plays on drum and bass line-ups, live band and electronic band lineups.

It’s a diverse and unique show that leaves a crowd excited and bemused.
