PUNXIE & THE POISON PENS – Bad Girl EP

Ballsy lead singer takes a feminine spin on cock rock
The lead singer of Punxie & The Poison Pens started her career as a comedian. Although the outspoken Punxie is now fronting the Brisbane band, the comedic influence is obvious in the group’s debut EP, Bad Girl. The subject matter is satirical, tongue in cheek, feminist and brazen. You also can’t help but notice her heavy Australian accent; it sounds a bit like Blinky Bill ditched Greenpatch and joined a rock band. A song title like My Pussy Is The Bomb tells you exactly what to expect. Punxie & the Poison Pens obviously aren’t afraid of being controversial, which is perfectly suited to their genre. It’s old school punk, before it became watered down and politically correct. Bad Girl is a guitar-driven, boat-rocking EP from a rowdy bunch of Brisbane musicians.

Bio

Punxie & The Poison Pens are one of the most exciting new bands to emerge from Australia's world renowned underground music hot spot, Brisbane.

Punxie is an outsider artist who first brought her unique vocals and authentic Australian rock sound to the internet with a MySpace chart hit, quickly followed by her band hitting the live stage supporting UK legends The Anti-Nowhere League in Nov 2006. They have since performed at almost all of Brisbane's premiere live rock venues, including The Step Inn, The Hi-Fi, The Jubilee, and many more.

Three years later and growing in popularity, the band continues to challenge the status quo with the release of their debut studio EP "BAD GIRL".

With airplay on community radio stations including PBS, FBi, 2RRR, 4ZzZFM and many more, Bad Girl has established Punxie & The Poison Pens as one of the hottest underground bands in Brisbane.

This band is the real deal, on stage and off.
