"Description from Jonathan Siezer, Metal Hammer"

"Even by the kaleidoscopic standards of their peers, there’s a potency
to Purson, a striking, irreducible otherness that suggests new, vivid
standard bearers are upon us" - Metal Hammer Magazine

"Taken from Classic Rock album review"

" Prog, psych and pop are just some of the ingredients stirred into cauldron
that is Purson’s striking debut album – after beginning with the reverse-reverbed acoustic guitar of Wake Up Sleepy Head it soon casts its rare, mesmerizing hex. Cunningham’s sense of drama brings gothic gravity to
a raft of songs which, while catchy, are rooted in the doomier soil of
rocks garden" - Classic Rock Magazine

"Description in Prog Magazine"

"Purson occupy that space where the shadows cast by candlelight
loom large across everything. Do give them your attention" - Classic Rock presents Prog Magazine

"Mojo Magazine review"

"Named after the demonological Great King of Hell, Purson conjure a heady,
magikal concoction that recalls Deep Purple, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane
and the anxious, mythological folk reckonings of Comus" - Mojo Magazine

"Gig review: Asylum 2, Birmingham, May 2014"

"London Hippie Mod Psych out the Midlands!!"

"I'm sorry we're not doom" apologises Rosalie Cunningham after coming on after a day of ball-busting, ultra-heavy doomsters, it might seem like Purson - with their acoustic guitars psych keyboards and Rosalie's gypsy-hippy vibes - have turned up to the wrong gig. But their rootsy riffs and Rosalie's dreamy solos and vocals are just as close to Sabbath's blueprint and influences as todays heavyweights. Rosalie looks like a model from a 1960s holiday brochure, all slim beauty, long hair and mystical vibe, while the rest of the band look like Sabbath's first roadies. The music, meanwhile, is a stoned swirl of Iommi-ish riffs, the Beatles' pop nous, offbeat psychedelia, and in Rosalie's stunning voice, the soulfulness of folk. It may not rumble like thunder, but the heavy riffs of Spiderwood Farm and the Contract's smouldering groove smell enough like vintage Sabbath (and patchouli) to have even the hardest-eared doomsters falling at Purson's feet. It's a magical mystery tour through the roots of heaviness and it's bloody fantastic!'

Bio

Purson was formed by singer/guitarist/songwriter Rosalie Cunningham after disbanding her old band 'Ipso Facto'.

Purson explore the recesses of reality set to a soundtrack of the three B’s, The Beatles, Bowie and Black Sabbath. Blurring the lines between their outer reality and inner realm, their debut album ‘The Circle and the Blue Door’ paints this landscape. Creating a marriage of dream and nightmare, a sonorous and idyllic tour of the psyche, that threatens to turn into a bad trip at any point.

A young woman's vision of the world takes centre stage in ‘The Circle and the Blue Door’, with songs reflecting on the innocence of childhood meddling with a sinister edge; with lyrics like “in our own secret garden we play, I the spider and you the fly" evoking the colour-saturated English countryside of early 70s Hammer Horror movies, but they do so with Beatles-esque sophistication, baroque charm and minor key reflection.

Following the success of the debut and numerous live dates around the UK and Europe, Purson are venturing through the looking glass once more, with their new EP titled ‘In the Meantime...’.

Purson release new single; Danse Macabre on September 8th, taken from their forthcoming new EP ‘In The Meantime’ (release date October 13 on Machine Elf Records)

The EP has been mastered by John Davis of Metropolis (Led Zeppelin remasters, Royal Blood, Friendly Fires, U2, Morrissey, Lana Del Rey). The single and EP proceed a full UK headline UK tour and a new long-player set for March 2015.

The band are also thrilled to be nominated in the Limelight category, for new and emerging talent at Classic Prog Magazines Progressive Music Awards 2014, as well as for Best New Band at the Classic Rock Roll of Honour 2014 (held for the first time in L.A). Also, by invitation of Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, Purson will be playing on the KISS Kruise which sails from the 31st October to the 3rd of November - they round off voyage off with a special date at the Viper Room in LA.
