"P.W.'s first Press Review"

"Is it enough for you to have one or 2 hits on a record,or is it enough with an album that will do just fine for background music at your home? Maybe it´s enough to have a party CD that works best played loud?...but if that´s not enough and you want something more, something extra, with music and words that give you something in return instead of the feeling of 2 hours of shallow entertainment from a Hollywood movie.

Nothing wrong with that and most of the times, it´s pretty nice to watch a big blockbuster movie but once in a while that one movie comes along that touches your heart and leaves you speechless afterwards like "Cold Mountain" with Nicole Kidman.

"Leaving Storyville" could also be the film that stretches out and reaches the depth of your soul and makes you think about what life´s really all about, but it´s not a movie, it´s a record from an amazing singer by the name of PW Gopal and how he sings!!!!........oh man, he´s like the Robert DeNiro of music........playing in a division by themselves.

To me, it really doesn´t matter if you´re into AOR, powerpop, midwest, modern rock or whatever style you come to think about because when it sounds the way PW Gopal does......it´s just too good to let it pass by!

Not many artists on cdbaby.com get only the highest scores from readers reviews but he did, just go there and check for yourself. He´s the kind of artist that I love to see perform live when you just can sit down with a smile on your face and be embraced with a warm wind from the songs.

Call it worship, call it gospel, call it midwest, call it christian pop/rock coz yeah he sounds like a mix of Russ Taff and Jeremy Camp but I would like to call PW Gopal something more suitable......I´ve seen the future and the future is PW Gopal."

Pär´s OPINION:
"Modern AOR with flirts of the modern singer songwriter scene is what were dealing with on the next record we review here at the melodic net. The music is a mixture of styles. Take a few ounces of an acoustic version of Whiteheart, mix that with a few spoons of Dave Matthews and spice it with a Bebo Norman, and were quite ahead of PWs music. Its a VERY well produced album and there are tons of hooks and refrains all over the album and Im sure than the main part of our readers will enjoy this album. (Perhaps not the punk and numetal freeks :-) - and I can only suggest that you surf to CD BABY and listen yourself. Favourite tracks are second out "One More Word" with a great refrain, fourth out "Rocking Chair" with a lovely vibe and "The Remnant" where you will hear what a GREAT voice the man has. And there are a bunch of other good tracks on the album. Weve heard it all before and PW is not unique, but we love melodies and well-produced music, and PW is very good at it. So take a listen now folks... "

Bio

P.W. Gopal knows that the stage is his place to be real and share glimpses of his life with crowds who are looking for authenticity from an artist. He comes as a prepared musician who has seen and experienced much of the same things in life that weve all lived through, and he'll leave you with a mark of familiarity, as if youve already known him for years. Stemming from the musical influences of Steven Curtis Chapman, Bebo Norman, Edwin McCain and Patty Griffin, P.W. writes his own music and tells his own stories of life, love and faith.

Here is what others have said:

P.W. Gopal produces rock melodies. They have an inspirational jet stream flowing through the emotive vocal currents and a pop/rock ambience in the music compositions. P.W.s rich vocal timbres have warmth in their caresses with a likeness to Edwin McCain and Dean Taylor, drizzled by specks of country tones in the lap steel and rootsy bluegrass shakers and rattles trailing beside rock rhythms of the acoustic guitar strums and swigs of drum swells. The songs have a sage-like quality, conveying tales about everyday struggles tooling an uplifting spring in the vocal deliverance. P.W.s voice projects pain and suffering and a spirit that rises above the torment." - Northeast Intune Magazine

"Conor and the Blackbird" named top 100 cd's in the 2006 Independent World Series of Music Midwest Region Semifinals"
