Bio
Pyramid Theorem is a Progressive Metal/Rock band formed in Richmond Hill, Ontario in 2006. Sam Ermellini (Guitar), Vito De Francesco (Drums), and brothers Christian Di Mambro (Bass) and Stephan Di Mambro (Guitar/Synth) united as a group of tremendously talented musicians who all play their respective instruments with a proficiency similar to the likes of their greatest influences- Rush, Pantera, Dream Theater, Yes, Black Label Society and Iron Maiden. The collaboration of the members of Pyramid Theorem seems to have been fated and is marked with serendipity, with two chance meetings which brought the members together. Stephan and Vito met at a friends cottage, and again over their mutual love of Rush. Upon hearing Stephan duplicate a Rush song on guitar, Vito was immediately engrossed. He too had a talent for playing Rush songs on drums. The two quickly became friends and began jamming together. Sam and Christian also came together upon discovering each others musical talent. Both started of in separate bands whose other members could not match their own individual talent. Shortly after their original bands dissolved, the two met at a party and began to talk about music in general and about their ability to duplicate the distinct sound of Rush. They became fast friends and began practicing nine hours a day, eventually forming another band. But, after the realization that not all its members were equally dedicated, they decide to disband. Sam and Christian continued to play together, but needed a complete band and decided to begin jamming with Stephan and Vito and Pyramid Theorem was born. Sam, Vito, Stephan and Christian are all have deep roots in music, playing and enjoying it for most of their lives. Sam lives in a house where the music never stops- guitars strewn around the house waiting to be played and a vast collection of records, CDs and DVDs. Vitos basement boasts an exact replica of Neil Pearts drum kit and stage. Upon entering is basement, it is clear that a passion for drumming lives there. In the short two years that they have been together, Pyramid Theorem has made tremendous progress. From their first show at Reillys Pub in Toronto, they have come to play at the Reverb, and The Opera House where they have headlined. Pyramid Theorems most recent success came in the form of the Rock n Race battle of the bands competition at Downsview Park. The two round competition saw several excellent bands, none of which could match the musical skill and precision of Pyramid Theorem. Their win resulted in a photo shoot, a cash prize and recording time; all of which have prepared the Band for their next steps into the music industry. Some of Pyramid Theorems short term goals are to increase their fan base by exploring alternative avenues of promotion and signing to a record label, while long term goals include starting a production company. Pyramid Theorem is relatively new as a band, but their ambitions are undeniably matched to their talent.
Pyramid Theorem will play a show at the Opera House in Toronto on July to prepare for the bands CD release.
