Bio
Frank Nietmann aka DJ Q6 started his career as DJ and musician at the age of 14. He rocked the stages across Germany with numerous bands as guitarist. Aged 17 the groove-fan discovered his faible for the bass. The collective living in a band as well as interacting with the audience is what constantly drives him. Concurrently his record collection expanded to a remarkable extent – Q6 virtually inhaled the music out of the vinyls. Therefore it was only logical for him to start DJing on a professional scale.
The artistic effort but also the technique on the records had a deep impact on Q6. He was fascinated by an ingenious chorus, an atypical groove, a brilliant hookline or simply by the interaction of the instruments. Used to live music from his early adolescence Q6 decided to realize his own ideas. He learned the essential knowhow at SAE (School of Audio Engineering) in Hamburg quickly and runs his own sound studio since then. Due to his empathy for music and his sense for trends he got lots of inquiries in no time. He was one of the first to shift catchy melodies and well-known songs to the dancefloor/electronica sector.
Since that time he realized diverse studio projects like GooF, a collaboration with the american singer/songwriter George Riley. He likes to get musicians together, has supported several artists creatively for years or featured them in his own projects.
Now it’s about time for Q6 to publish his own projects again! Once more he proved zeitgeist: The big studio mixer was kicked out in aid of digital equipment, his record collection of more than 6,800 is archived completely on his hard drive. Q6 made a decision! He is totally into digital media. Therefore his upcoming projects will be only available as downloads in several shops. His times of physical records are gone...
