"A Real Mix"

For a group of performers who are all about mixing, the DJ community seems to split into two camps: hip-hop and dance. Building bridges, one beat at a time, promoter Qousey Ben-Musa has set aside plenty of time for both types of spinning at the Sexxxtravaganza Tour. "We've got one of the top hip-hop DJs that's around right now," he says. That man is DJ Rectangle, who's won several DJ battle championships and toured with Warren G. And on the dance front, you've got DJ Mea, who mixes house and breaks -- and then croons original lyrics over the beats with her powerful pipes. That's right: She's a DJ who sings. Backing up this dynamic duo will be spinsters Smokescreen, Daveed and Qousey himself. And that ain't all. Just to make sure the event lives up to its XXX moniker, Ben-Musa has brought Playboy Cybergirl Tiffany Holiday on board. "She's going to be hosting it for about five hours," he says. "She's going to be out and about." There will also be a Sexxxiest Attire Contest, with the winner nabbing $500. Damn, with all this XXX action, we bet the only place in town this week with more unbridled libidos will be the hotel where the ballplayers are staying. 9 p.m. Friday, July 9. Kim Son Ballroom, 1613 St. Emanuel. For tickets, visit www.grooveticket.com. $25 to $30 for individuals; $50 for couples; $60 for VIP - Houston Press

Bio

Before Audiomatic Production there was Groove - U Productions. Groove-U were putting together great productions @ the Austin Music Hall in the late 90's. In 1999 or so, Qousey later joined the production company. Later in early 2000, Groove - U slowly dissolved.

Audiomatic was put together around 2001 by Qousey BenMusa and other local artists. Audiomatic was developed to promote ourselves and our events. It didn’t take that much time for the word to get out. In time we grew into a well respected name in the Austin/Houston areas. During this period, Qousey held residencies at clubs in Texas such as Spiros Night Club (Austin), Plush (Austin), Pangea(Houston), Club Meneo(Austin), Industry Cafe(Houston) and Karma Lounge(Austin). Also, he became a regular act appearing in many other events and massives including Electric Daisy Carnival 1 & 2, SXSW (South By South West) and the early Zen Festival. In 2004, Audiomatic Productions was passed down onto his partners and Qousey took a break from the decks and focused on furthering his education in the audio field. He left Austin and moved to Orlando, where he enrolled at Full Sail University. Qousey graduated with a degree in Audio Engineering and received "Second Runner Up" in the Final Mix Competition held by the University. Soon after graduation, he moved back to Austin.

In 2009, Qousey brought Audiomatic back to life with the help of friends and 101x’s HypersonicRadio.com Together they had a big role in SXSW 2010. We held Spundae Events and had the LOT49 Record Label Showcase. Now back, Qousey along with the help & support from friends, family, and the EDM community, has been able to be involved in many projects that involve all aspects of audio including dj, live production, post production, music production, field recording, sound design and mastering.
