""Buu" EP review"

22/08/2008

Sponsored by the wackiest phases of Jeff Buckley, Beach Boys and The Beatles this band makes an alternative and original sound. The EP brings 3 highly recomended tracks for those who enjoy drinking directly from the fountain of rock and folk. I hope that a complete album is released soon. - http://resenhaem6.blogspot.com/2008/08/quarto-negro-buu-ep.html

"2009 Hype artists"

28/01/2009

Who: Eduardo Praça (ex-Ludovic)

What: A one man band that brings high psychedelia doses and experimentalism in it sound, showing the other multi-instrumental side of the ex-guitarist of the Black Rebel Motorcycle ops, Ludovic.

Hype: Although the project presents noncommercial songs, Quarto Negro is one of the coolest things I’ve listened recently, with emotion transmitting songs together with a element that make us think. "You Don´t See What I See" resumes this thought. In the Best of Jeff Buckley and Johnny Cash flight , Eduardo Praça is an artist to pay attention in 2009.

Keep an eye: The next Quarto Negro show takes place on Brooklyn, New York, at Northeast Kingdom february 5th. - http://www.portalmivi.com.br/std11/arquivo/2009.php

"New Music Tips"

18/08/2008

A while ago I commented in this same blog about solo projects of national bands integrants, and ond of those were Quarto Negro, project of guitarist Eduardo Praça from Ludovic.

By the time there wasn’t any songs of those I commented to be listened in myspace, but now there it is. “Buu” EP is out with 3 songs, San Telmo, O mesmo Capítulo and Getting High. What to say? There is not much, they are beautiful, enjoy! - http://sonicflower.blogspot.com/2008/08/quarto-negro.html

Bio

Quarto Negro (black room, in Portuguese) arose in 2008, as a solo man project. The first demo, Buu (independent), came out as a result of the experience of guitar player Eduardo Praça, former Ludovic and former Bonnie Situation, added to a writing drive not explored until then. With inward songs on union, separation, home, personal wars and triumph, Eduardo brought to light an American spirit, between last century's country and blues, of a time when pop and rock n' roll still hadn't exploded. The image of the black room, in fact, comes from a story of Johnny Cash, who overwhelmed by hatred and far from reasoning, painted black all of his hotel room walls.

The EP made a buzz in the underground set of New York, where Quarto Negro got to play live for 4 months. However, not satisfied with results, Eduardo Praça left the project aside and joined piano man Thiago Klein in order to form another band. Together, without a project name defined, they made informal performances in some Yankee pubs, where Eduardo had already opened doors.

The sensation that something was missing remained. In the creative material, in the band formation, in the city. Therefore, the duo decided to spend a season in Buenos Aires, with Rafael Farah and Fabio Brazil, childhood friends, also former Bonnie Situation musicians. Thus, after nights awake on the streets of San Telmo, after resuming English rock, the four friends gathered themselves informal jam sessions, in which they recreated Quarto Negro's material a created new songs.

The result was a surprise to everyone. One of Eduardo's incomplete songs, Zoroastro, was recreated and developed to a point where the four of them understood that they formed the ideal set, eight hands in perfect harmony. Due to this discover and due to the good times together, they decided to bring back Quarto Negro to life, now as a quartet, influenced not only by American music, but also by English and Latin.

Back in Brazil, the quartet is preparing the debut album, due to 2010.
