QUAS BIOGRAPHY

Maurice L. Steele, (Quas) was born and raised in the rough streets of Newark, NJ. Throughout his life he experienced many ups and downs due to Newark’s surroundings of crime, drugs, and gangs. These are some of the raw fundamental elements, which play a crucial theme in Quas’s music. His powerful voice and catchy hooks captivates his listeners. He has the ability to light up any stage with his animated contagious energy and unique sound. Some of his lyrics reflect tales of the hardships and obstacles he has encountered growing up on the inner city streets. The combination of Josh’s genius production and Quas’s lyrics captures and redefines every aspects of hip hop at it’s very best. This rap duo’s chemistry and originality is unlike any other you ever heard.
In the 90’s Quas worked with Teddy Riley on ghostwriting for the group Wrecks in Effect. He then went on to record some songs for Conception Records, with his group Chrome Kyds. The single, “Living My Life ”, was chosen to be on the compilation album “Soul, Style and Truth”; it sold well and received US and UK airplay. After the Chrome Kyds separated due to creative differences, he continued on with his solo career. During the years Quas has managed to appear on several radio stations like the Stretch and Bobbito show in NYC to the DJ YNOT show at Rutgers, even to air an exclusive on the Baker Boys show in Florida. He has been recording a large catalog of songs and just recently released a long awaited EP, “The G-Filez”. The singles, “Concrete Hearts”, and “Quas is Here”, got love on the streets of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
Quas’s recent performances have included opening for Joe Budden at the Stealth Lounge and also at the NY Music and Film Fest at Madison Square Garden. He has also appeared in various music videos, his appearances include, Jaheim’s “Diamonds in Da Ruff ”, Jay Z’s “99 Problems” as well as Gangstarr’s “Rite Where You Stand”. He also had an appearance on the Sucka Free Sunday’s commercial for MTV 2. Two songs off of the G-Filez EP, went onto appear in a biography entitled, “50cents Refuse to Die” which was released by New Line Cinema. Quas is on a mission to take the hip-hop industry by storm. He is dedicated and ambitious and nothing will stand in his way or stop him from succeeding.
