"BLACK CELEBRITY KIDS - UPCOMING: TEEN RAPPER STANDS UP"

16-year-old *Quintes “Que” Austin is an upcoming rapper who is on a mission to encourage his peers to stand up against bullying. With his song “Can’t Keep Running Away”, Que is taking a stand against bullying.

“It’s a positive message. Something most rappers don’t send,” Que says of his song. “I wanted to give them something different. It took me off the ground on up. I’ve been compared to a lot of people like Tupac and other rappers who really nailed the social issues. I’m honored just to hear that. I never expected it.” - BLACKCELEBRITYKIDS.COM

“It is focused on bullying in general. You have to stand up for what you believe in and you cannot keep running away from your problems,” said Austin.

Before Que’s success, he was just another inspired rapper trying to make it into the industry.

“I started off not really wanting to be a rapper, but I practiced so much that I got better at it and I did not even realize it,” said Austin. - Lee Bailey's EurWeb.com

"QUE STANDS UP TO BULLIES (EBONY MAGAZINE)"

Milwaukee Rapper Encourages Peers To Stand Strong
By Margena A. Christian

A social studies assignment inspired a 16-year old Milwaukee teen to pen a rap tune urging his equals to stand up to bullies.

“Sometimes our homework is to see what’s in the news,” says Que, a high school sophomore who has been performing for two years. “I saw lots of talk about bullying. I started to build on it. I thought it needs a voice for people to not run from problems.”

The result was the song Can’t Keep Running Away, which has received overwhelming web feedback. Senator Lena C. Taylor of Wisconsin’s 4th District reached out to the teen about his empowering anthem.

“It’s a positive message. Something most rappers don’t send,” says Que, who resides in a heavily gang infested area in Milwaukee. “I wanted to give them something different. It took me off the ground on up. I’ve been compared to a lot of people like Tupac and other rappers who really nailed the social issues. I’m honored just to hear that. I never expected it.”

A recent study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry suggested that bullying by peers can increase the risk of the victim developing psychotic symptoms later in life.

Que, though reluctant to admit it, was himself once the victim of bullying. Because he’s “small, short and skinny,” he believes he became an easy target. At times he didn’t want to go to school, but eventually Que found a way to fight back without his fists. He decided to simply say something about it.

“Whatever problems you come upon, you have to stand up to it,” he says. “You can’t keep running. People choose to run because they think it feels better. But overcoming makes you feel better. It’s like a high. Stand up positively. Don’t go out there fighting but do something about it. The topic of the song is powerful.” - Margena A. Christian is Senior Writer for EBONY.

"15 year old phenom right on"

15 year old phenom right on "QUE"
(a phenomenon, esp. a young prodigy)

Introducing 15 year old freshman Quintes Austin A.K.A "QUE" (pronounced Q). One listen and you'll notice in an instant this kid is the truth. A rap man-child, Lebron like is the best way to describe this Mil-town north side "Haven Wood" resident.

"my flow is crazy / it ain't no giving it medication / i got a gift an cant none a you p*ssy n*ggaz take it / that 45 on my side / ay' mama I'm gone make it / an I'm a keep spitting to keep my pockets far from vacant". (from "The Introduction" by Que)

Yes sir, this from a freshman in high school. Already having to over come every day life in one of the toughest hoods any where around, Que manages to keep cool and keep him self grounded. With an obvious love for music and a delivery most mc's twice his age don't have and plenty of time on his side Que certainly sounds ready to kick in the doors and make a name for him self in the music industry. On Milwaukee's underground circuit he has been making a buzz for himself and gaining attention with mix tapes using his actual birth date as the title: Est.02.09.94 "Freshmen year" vol. 1, 11 and 111 hosted by DJ Stretch & DJ Infotek of the Infamous Record Breakers. Paving the way for his debut album "The First Time Around' and working the clubs with his single "Stunt Like I Stunt" things are looking good. With features from Uneek, Young Action & Ashley who are also his label mates and production from Fast Track (F.T.P) Que's style and command of the microphone will definitely put Milwaukee on every ones radar and keep Que heavy in the game for a long time to come. - Milwaukee Hip-Hop Music Examiner Nicholas Montoya

Radio Milwaukee Pits KHB against FCC…And Jaill…Vote TODAY!

July 14, 2010 by milwaukeeup

There is no way to tell if the article I wrote last week about Radio Milwaukee adding some new Milwaukee Hip-Hop into the rotation to compliment their current playlist of artists had any sway on this week’s “New Music Wednesday”. I’m sure it didn’t, but it was nice this morning to wake up to see both KHB and Fresh Cut Collective as artists that they are featuring on this week’s locally heavy contest (which also features Milwaukee’s Jaill…a rock group that has recently signed to Sub Pop and will be releasing a new album very soon).

The catch to this is that you have to vote for which song you like the best…and I believe you have to do it TODAY. I don’t know the politics of the situation and whether all songs have been added to the rotation and the most popular will get the most spins over the coming months or if the winner is the only one that gets added to regular rotation. Honestly, I hope that ALL these local artist’s tracks get added regardless of outcome because all three tracks are fantastic.

Def Harmonic, The Figureheads, Oneself – July 17th at Mad Planet

July 14, 2010 by milwaukeeup

91.7FM, WMSE…aka Frontier Radio…is doing a summer series that is sure to include all the best the city of Milwaukee has to offer. This weekend they are featuring Def Harmonic (who is going to release a new album soon I’m told), The Figureheads, and Oneself.

The gig is hosted by the Mad Kids, begins at 9PM, and is at Mad Planet…one of Milwaukee finest venues. This should be a good time.

(That looks like Dwellephant art)

Que featuring Adi Armour (Adi Mack) – You’re My Everything

July 13, 2010 by milwaukeeup

Today young emcee Que has released a new song called “You’re My Everything” featuring Adi Armour, also known as Adi Mack. It’s a smoothed out Rap/R&B fusion joint from a young guy more known for his razor sharp approach.

Que is a young dude (I want to say like 16) and has caught the ears of many people around Milwaukee and getting Adi Mack to sing on one of your joints…a guy who has been doing music successfully in Milwaukee as a part of a group or solo for a long time…it’s a good look.

I know that Que has a mixtape coming out soon so keep your eyes pealed for that.

You can download the song RIGHT HERE after listening to the track below.
