Bio

Jac’Queena, Marie James (QueenaMarie) was born Oct 16th to a Marine father and poet mother in Biloxi Mississippi on a Marine Base. As a youth Queena and the family moved around a lot and it was in Chester, PA that she discovered her talent for writing at an early age. Queena had her first taste of the spotlight in a talent show in grade school performing “Whatta Man” by Salt in Pepa with one of her childhood friends. They won the competition! The rush of performing and the crowd enjoying her performance led to many more performances and competitions. Performing fueled her, kept her mind off her hostile living environment and allowed her an outlet to channel her rebellious spirit.
After moving throughout Pennsylvania (in the Philadelphia area) Queena and family moved once again to New Jersey in 1994. Adapting to a suburban lifestyle in a predominately white school wasn’t easy. The pen became her friend. Queena would add instrumentation to her words by making beats with her hands to go along with the lyrics. From poetry to rap Queena found herself performing with whomever and whenever she could get the chance. During the late 90’s she began meeting producers and they provided her tracks to rhyme to. She met her then manager Terrance Tykeem who teamed Queena up with a group called the “Wild Bunch.” As the only female in the group Queena stood out and went on to record over 30 songs. In addition, she shot an underground video in Joe Frasier’s gym with “Walt” from Philadelphia that featured Queena and R&B songstress Adina Howard called “Battle of the Sexes” It was there that Slim of Cash Money (Brother of Baby) offered Queena a record deal that fell through due to management issues.
Queena continued to move on and by 2001 she was well know as “Queen of South Jersey.” She formed a female rap group called “Sneak A Bitch” with Mz. Jersey and DJ Shorty Du Wap. At this point she was going by the name Queena Marie. They started off strong, crossing paths with Roca Fella Records “Beanie Sigel” and “Peedi Crakk” along with Philadelphia’s own “The Roots” but without representation progress fizzled.
QueenaMarie went back to a performing on numerous hip hop dvds from “Smack” to “Holla Back” and have been featured on countless mix tapes from Gunz and Ammo Vol2 to Guilty by Association and the list goes on.
She took a hiatus for a couple years however the love for the music never dies. This time Queena is changing up the plan. She always believes she is a flower in this rap game just waiting to bloom however the crowded soils of timing and disappointment delayed her success.
Now as a soloist with new management and a new vision QueenaMarie is ready to realize her destiny! Watch Queen Marie as she opens up for Maybach's music new recruit “Meek” Millz, see Queen Marie gyrating behind Capone (Capone and Noriega) in his new video “Can’t Stop” as well as a host of her own videos from her mix tape Animal Unleashed everywhere this spring as well as her follow-up LP “Fashion Sick” in 2012.
From You Tube, to Twitter, to Face Book she has just begun, again…….IT AINT OVER!
