Queen City Station

Queen City Station

BandRockCountry

. . . the most beer-drinkingest, punk rockingest, bad ass country rockers this side of Lake Erie.

Biography

In the early hours of the New Year, Vocalist Nicholas Brooks departed from his exceptionally successful former band, It Dies Today, fresh off an entire summer on the Ozzfest Second stage. His heart and mind followed his musical passions as well as his friends, Singer/Songwriter Andrew Reimers, Zak Collins, Corey Dibiase, Raymond Lampke and Matt Folger. Queen City Station was born Early in January 2007, hovering in and around the winter tundra known as their beloved hometown of Buffalo, New York.
Queen City Station consists of six souls capable of obtaining anything they wish. If ever there was a message conveyed by artists and musicians, Queen City Station’s moniker is a musical account of the emotions of belief and hope. Losing and gaining. Failure and promise. Love and bewilderment. Music and friends. Wine and words. Each member has tasted some ethereal presence of strength and weakness. Finding a common bond in their musical endeavors. Meeting in a time where passion and creativity far outweighed personal pursuit and prosperity, Queen City Station is the unabashedly poignant output of musical sentiment.
Like their musical contemporaries, Queen City Station make roots rock n’ roll sliding down a warm path towards country and wondrously loud enough to be never be considered tame. Like Springsteen, they shine a light on better days in a nowhere town. Like Whiskeytown and Lucero, Queen City Station opens their heart, chest open, without blinking and pours the contents of their lives together, into a solution of beautiful words and melodies with flashes of yesterday, the present, and the future. Wildly original with their hat tipped towards their friends and musical inspirations, Queen City Station is ready to take the stage while you take a spot at the bar or in the crowd to listen, feel and love.

Lyrics

Glen Falls

Written By: Nicholas Brooks

My darlin' came in my dreams again
she laid with me in my bed
but i awoke in an empty room
realized my dreams are dead

now my hearts like the streets of queen city
tar black and bitter cold
you're just too fickle baby
tell me when are you comin' home?

all those things you whispered
that night you secretly saw me
will i be hearing them again?
girl i'm beggin' you

meet me where the ellicott starts to fall where we first kissed
you know i'd wait for you there forever
it aint our first summer of love but it's the closest that we'll get
i'm sorry it couldn't last forever

the devil came in my dreams tonight
as another man in our bed
i awoke to the two of you
with a pain in my heart and head
My darlin' came in my dreams again
she laid with me in my bed
but i awoke in an empty room
realized my dreams are dead

now my hearts like the streets of queen city
tar black and bitter cold
you're just too fickle baby
tell me when are you comin' home?

all those things you whispered
that night you secretly saw me
will i be hearing them again?
girl i'm beggin' you

meet me where the ellicott starts to fall where we first kissed
you know i'd wait for you there forever
it aint our first summer of love but it's the closest that we'll get
i'm sorry it couldn't last forever

Mistress

Written By: Nicholas Brooks

our mistress lays bare between bar room walls
she's in the gutter and the men's room stalls
she's the piss, puke, blood, tears, hell she's everything we know
aint no one gonna love us the way she can
aint no one gonna love us the way she can

tonight let's raise a glass to all those times we drank
till the sun kissed the windows down on richmond
with our chattering teeth providing the precussion
to those old country songs
and that slamming door told us our ladies were leaving us
we've seen this before
lord knows we'll see it again
our mistress is the only one who's there till the bitter end

(chorus) wander through these streets hoping that they'll bring us back
to a place we'll find redemption
wonder just how the fuck we keep slipping through the cracks
well its the girl, it's the bottle and it's the powder in the sack

today cant raise our heads
they're weighed down by so much shame
waking up to nothing is the most painful thing
so i pray to god now
just to get me through the day
but he aint never listened much anyway
been down here before
lord knows we'll be here again
our mistress brings everything to an untimely end

(chorus) wander through these streets hoping that they'll bring us back
to a place we'll find redemption
wonder just how the fuck we keep slipping through the cracks
well its the girl, it's the bottle and it's the powder in the sack

we were meant for so much better
meant for so much more than this
just lies we tell ourselves

(chorus) wander through these streets hoping that they'll bring us back
to a place we'll find redemption
wonder just how the fuck we keep slipping through the cracks
well its the girl, it's the bottle and it's the powder in the sack

our mistress lays bare between bar room walls
she's in the gutter and the men's room stalls
she's the piss, puke, blood, tears, hell she's everything we know
aint no one gonna love us the way she can
aint no one gonna love us the way she can

Carnivale

Written By: Nicholas Brooks

Well the boys begin to circle 'round in the gathering snow
they lie in wait to pick the meet off our bones
godamned, god damned this travelin' show
matter fact i'm letting go
chorus:
My tight rope's undone i'm fallin' free with the setting sun
and yeah its the safest i have felt
godamn i dont want no one playing the heroine
tryin' to catch me, this time around

been gone thirty days
the tents go up today near nashville
where i'll meet a guy, come all the way from indiana
he's got a bag, the one thing that numbs my pain
and i wilt away, but to me its all the same
(chorus)

well i sold my soul to the carnivale
my farewell to the flesh
and i aint seen anything 'cept for dolor and decay
six years have passed me by
(chorus)

California

Written By: Nicholas Brooks

Oh the tales i tell
reach the tops of mountains and
cast their shadows on motels
where strangers dance in darkness
but honey know its only you and those shining grey eyes
oh the tales i tell
on and on misled, melodramtic
we are incapable of love
chorus:
and its a long way back from california
where the stars i seen dont burn out bright
i'm 3000 miles away and to god above i pray
oh that i make it out alive

oh the lies she tells
cant be dressed in white now
she's made me quite the fool
thinkin' i had such a good thing
and if i make it home to you
with these double standards
then oh i'll bring you hell
on and on hellbent and broken hearted
we are incapable of love
(chorus)

Weary Hearts

Written By: Nicholas Brooks

So young but so damn hopeless
you can see it in her eyes
20 years of broken dreams so full of compromise
first night we met i swore that i'd give her a better life
if all goes to plan with a shot gun blast
we'll leave it all behind
chorus:
hold onto me now darlin'
we run straight on through morning
bring our fire to the promise land
hold onto me now darlin'
this rust belt has brought us nothin'
'cept for weary hearts and callous hands

sat atop concrete central
screaming like the wind
swearing that she'd do most anything
to never see this town again
so we made our way to allen
but those drinks taste like defeat
so honey pack your things
got you this wedding ring
we'll run to the morning light
(chorus)
(chorus)
hold onto to me now darlin
our fire will burn so bright
hold onto me now darlin
only you can get me through the night
