Bio

Queen Niyahbingai is a hip-hop artist born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. She has a naturally soulful and modest appearance with a rugged flow some say resembles that of Little Kim, Eve, and Rah Digga, yet her lyrical content is in the arena of mc's who use consciousness to reach their listeners. She delivers songs that are capable of transcending barriers to bring forth change for the betterment of humanity. That which sets this Queen apart from others is, she's truly a representation of hip-hop at its finest, with a natural beauty uncommon to the female artist who packages talent and sexploitation as a product for sale.

Niyahbingai began singing and writing as a young child, and years later fell in love with hip-hop after listening to some KRS1( a hip-hop artist). Her soulful voice is a fusion of Hip-Hop, Funk, Jazz, Spoken Words, and R&B. This artist is comared to an Angela Davis gone hip-hop. She is currently working on finishing the production of her first single titled, "Keep Fighting", which is due to be released in the later of March 2009. Lyrically she explains the tenor of the song, "The song is an expression of the struggle, the fight, and the pain we all endour a living beings, and how we must continue to fight and push our way through the multiple states of oppression. This song was inspired by my 10 year old nephew who lost his battle to cancer in November of 2007. Ricardo asked me to write a song that is a representation of his fight, strength, his love for others, and bringing people together in peace". With lyrics that exude power and purpose laced over a funky hip-hop Jazz groove produced by Walter Chancellor and Queen Niyahbingai. "This song is intended to help inspire others through the hard times we face all over the world". The music moves you and the lyrics grab you, with the purpose to be able to reach out to others and help them through hardships, as she said music has helped her. "Music got me through some really difficult times, and I am so thankful to those many inspiring artists that helped me along the way".

At an early age she remembers music being played on a regular in her home for fun. Music was a way her family would connect sing and have a good time. In her early years she was influenced by Stevie Wonder, Marving Gaye, Anita Baker, Diana Ross, and the Commodores to name a few. As a young girl the arts has alway been part of her lifestyle. In 1993 she moved to Minnesota where she later became a voice of community activism performing powerful poetic soliloquies. She's been performing for years throughout the Twin Cities, Philly, and also the City of Chi, when she takes the time out to visit her home. In 2000 she was part of opening doors to the youth hosting an all age open mic setting. The Queen recieved certificates for performing at tributes and fundraisers for her hard work and dedicaton for those in need. Her performance for the peace fundraiser got her front page of the Minnesota Spokesman in 2004, where she performed on behalf of those that lost their lives due to violence. From 2002-2003 Queen took on donatin her time at Harves Prep and Franklyn Millde school doing poetry workshops for the students, and taking on the opportunity of hosting an open mic event at Franklin Middle School for the students, allowing them an opportunity to be expressive on stage in front of an audience. In 2005 she recieved the editors choice award for her spoken word. She performed some original hip-hop music at the B-girl Bee in the twin cities, which is a celebration of women of hip-hop. In July of 2005 she later moved to Philly for 2 years where she did some serious soul searching, writing and recording. She decided in the summer of 2007 to relocate back to Minnesota where she made connectons with artists and added more songs to her catalog. In the fall of 2008 the Queen briefly featured lead and background vocals with band MPLS (Money Power Love Sex), later to return her focus back to her solo project. The Queen is now in the process of writing and recording the songs for her upcoming album tittled "The Coming". The time has come and the Queen is here! Her talent and ambition grants her the crown because she rocks it with respect.
