Qui

Born Laquisha Joa'nee Powell, New York's "hip-pop" rising star Qui, has been performing in front of an audience since the early age of 9. Her unique sound coupled with her ability to create outstanding music, has been a staple at major events throughout the Rochester area for the past several years. By the age of 13 Qui was already performing in front of thousands at venues such as Rochester's Peace Fest, The Young Entrepreneur's Benefit Bash and Dazzle Theater's "Stomp the Violence" concert.

Although it has been Qui's dream since the age of 6 to become an international recording artist, she continues to produce music driven by her emotions rather than conforming to the format that the industry deems acceptable as it relates to current female artists. "My music is unique, I'm ok with rap but i really enjoy listening to pop music and my sound reflects that," "I want to make happy music" says Qui, "Music that makes people want to go next door and hug their neighbor".

Qui's special talents extend far beyond just sitting down with a pen and a piece of paper. Her ability to structure songs in the studio and create amazing hooks have made her the "go to girl" among local artist looking for a special sound. Her inspiriation to produce authentic music without compromising her integrity has come from other musical trailblazers like MC Lyte, Missy Elliot, Queen Latifah and Left Eye from the group TLC.

Qui is currently in the studio working on her debut CD titled "Lust for Fame". Which showcases her talents to create music that is both entertaining and thoughtful. With hits like "Tatted Up" and "Yessay" , Qui is sure to take the music industry by storm. "This album will be like my musical diary," says Qui. "Once you know my music you will know me".
