"This band pisses me off. The recording quality is such a slapdash affair that you almost miss the sheer brilliance on a couple of songs on this disc. 'Phyllis' gives a nod to Sebadoh with a Folk Implosion inspired bass line. Quickrelease has their indie cred down to an art form. After repeated listens, I even began to condone the recording quality and concentrate on the overall fine songwriting. I absolutely loved the edgy delayed guitar parts and intricate melody lines. Record this to a higher caliber and they should fly off the shevles."

quickrelease is a band born of bizarre circumstances. music school dropout aidan fox-holden, while working at a local boston cutlery store, meets electrical engineer will solesby when he comes into buy a kitchen knife. discovering a mutual love of the velvet underground and the desire to make rock and roll they truly enjoy, solesby and fox-holden venture to start writing songs together. shannon rutherford is soon spotted sitting behind a drumkit wearing wristbands and rocking out, whereupon he is immdediately snatched up from his old band and placed into the world of solesby and fox-holden. thus was born quickrelease.
quickrelease is influenced by the cure, the beatles, paul simon, wilco, tortoise, elvis costello, beck, new order, and god knows who else. equally tired of both epic, portentous, insipid chorus chanting and angry, oafish jock rock, quickrelease strives to make music that is groovy and fun without being conventional or thoughtless. our goal is that you hear new sounds and new songs and have the uncontrollable urge to get off your ass so you can shake it around a little
