IAA: What is your music background?
QUINCY DIVINE: It all started from writing short stories for fun in the second or third grade. From there it escalated to poetry as I began to grow and experience life more. Around the age of twelve, that’s when I was told to try my hand at hip-hop by a friend who believed I was a good writer from some of my poems he read. From then own I’ve been perfecting my craft. As far as producing goes, I started playing the keyboard around the age of nineteen and began producing for friends in the neighborhood. I’ve always had a passion for music, but that’s when I really decided to take it seriously.
IAA: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
QUINCY DIVINE: I want others to experience and appreciate my artistry, and realize that I have something beneficial to say.
IAA: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
QUINCY DIVINE: My songs are about everyday life. They are about the ups the downs, the struggles, the smiles, and every other feeling that represents humanity.
IAA: Who is your fan base directed towards?
QUINCY DIVINE: Well, because I do use profanity as passion words occasionally, I would say between the ages of eighteen and forty. Even though that’s the age limit I usually target, that doesn’t mean anyone else can’t enjoy my music also.
IAA: Who are your musical influences?
QUINCY DIVINE: That’s a long list, but I’ll try to name a few. B.B. King, Stevie Wonder, Howlin Wolf, 2pac, Nas, Bill Withers, Raphael Saadiq, Curtis Mayfeild along with many others have influenced me.
IAA: How would you describe your music to people ?
QUINCY DIVINE: I would say I’m very eclectic. My music is a mixture of blues ,neo-soul, hip-hop and rap.
IAA: What makes you stand out from other artist ?
QUINCY DIVINE: I’m an artist who goes in the studio only to make the music I believe in. I don’t hold myself to a certain pattern or format to achieve that goal. I just go in and I am as honest as possible. I let my music speak for itself.
IAA: What are some upcoming projects, you are currently working on
QUINCY DIVINE: Well, I just released a mix-tape entitled Album Before The Album that’s a free download at www.quincydivine.com/mixtapes.php. Now I’m working on the album Beat Of My Own Drum.
IAA: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
QUINCY DIVINE: Short term, I just want to be the best artist/producer I can be and make Beat Of My Own Drum the best album it can be. Long term, I would like to make it in the industry and have longevity. In ten years, hopefully I’m on a beach somewhere reflecting on how much money I’ve made, how many fans I’ve touched from music, sipping on a corona working on the next big business deal.

Quincy Divine was born and raised in the southern state of Alabama, where he first discovered his talents as an artist. As early as he can remember, he's written poetry and other short stories as a way to free his mind and get away from the struggles of everyday life. He's always had an eclectic musical taste into different genres; not knowing this would mold him later on to become an artist/producer himself. During his middle school years, he began turning his poetry into raps, and beating on tables to make melodies all his own. By the end of high school, he had piles of raps and poetry stacked up under his bed; although he was not pursuing a career in music at the time. He spent time in college and broke out of his shy shell and actually started flowing a few of his rhymes at different ciphers. The people loved his sound, and exclaimed he has exceptional skills in putting words together. Enthused by the critics, he stayed in college the rest of that year and came back home to Alabama where he would began his journey to stardom. His brother then introduced him to his next great fete; the keyboard. That inexpensive but effective piece of machinery, helped Quincy hone the skills he has today. Feeling like fate was guiding him in the right direction, he started producing for himself and friends. This lead to them making tapes and catching buzz-worthy feedback by passing them around the neighborhood. Once people heard what he had to say they wanted more, and gave him the belief that this was his calling. He started to invest in what he considered would be his future, and hasn't looked back yet. Although fame and fortune hasn't shed it's light on him as of yet, his drive and ambition keeps him pursuing his dream to become a force to be reckoned with in today's industry.
