OK, you gotta like smart tongue in cheek acoustic rock to get Quinn’s Uncles. Fortunately, I’m all about acoustic wise-guys. And if you think I exaggerate, the following was included in their promo package: “QU sounds like the Foo Fighters and the Allman Brothers had a baby, and forced said baby to listen to alot of Bon Jovi.” They had me at hello.
Quinn’s Uncles is the team of Meade brothers, Tim on lead guitar, Jim on rhythm, and they mix it up on drum programming, bass, synth and piano. They’re as quick on their axes as they are sharp-witted, and the cleverly titled Meadevil is hard not to enjoy, with its bright acoustic sound. Actually, a lot of what the Meade boys do is pretty sunny, including their airy and sometimes tremulous vocals. A few of these songs feel very retro, like the captivating “Movin’ On,” very Hugh Masekela with its infectious vocals and genuflecting guitar riffs. The sparkling love song “Wreck Me” has the same ‘70s feel and the standout track “Hot Monkey Love” is ‘60s all the way, right down to its mid-song breakout into an old “Jesus Christ Superstar” solo. Interesting, these Meade boys with their big imaginations and shimmering sounds. Especially notable is the low key bluesy “Rosy Eyed Girl,” gently rockin’ above some farfetched programming.

Quinn's Uncles began at the birth of younger member, Jim. Once he was old enough and deemed good enough to play with his older brother, the duo began writing music together. In 2001, the brothers officially formed the band, in hopes of one day musically ruling the world.
Tim took his philosophy major and spun it into gold, pursuing the ever-lucrative careers of theatre and music. He has toured the nation with the hit musical “Schoolhouse Rock Live” as well as with a cappella group Blind Man’s Bluff. Although his life-long dream of doing menial office work has gloriously come true, he’d still do something in music. You know, if it came up or whatever.
Jim upped the educational ante by getting a master’s degree in English. He has lent this unique command of his native tongue to every QU song, not to mention his numerous theatrical endeavors in both acting and directing. Jim is a Sagittarius. He enjoys long walks on the beach and face-melting guitar solos.
Taking their cue from their favorite bands, which include a mixture of Bon Jovi and the Beatles, Quinn's Uncles have focused on writing catchy rock songs and performing every last show like it was it was in a sold out stadium. That's just how they are. They're not afraid to bring the rock.
