Biography

Quirk the Gimp (QTG), thus far, has evaded genre classification, but has been described as playing a funk and groove, epical metal pop compilation. What is that you may ask? You’ll just have to press play folks, or get your arse to one of their explosive live gigs!!

The QTG sound has been influenced by all music; artists such as The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Faith No More, Audioslave, Fishbone, Infectious Grooves, Prince, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Primus to name but a few.

The QTG sound is not only defined by their musical influences however. It also speaks their view of the world, speaks of a greater tomorrow for humanity and the planet we call Earth. QTG creates music that inspires unity and which evokes dance and thought.

As soon as you see QTG it is apparent they are performers as well as musicians. They dabble in the theatrical, are known for their wicked humour and always manage to go further than anyone expects or thinks possible. They’ve got vocals, original lyrics and an awesome stage presence to boot.

QTG has evolved over the years. Forming in October 2001, they played their first gig under the one time only name ‘the George Grind band’, however as QTG they have graced the stages of Sydney at: The Lansdowne Hotel, the Annandale Hotel, the Gaelic Club, the Marquee, The Metro, the Hopetoun, The Cat and Fiddle, the Crest Hotel, the Vic on the Park, the Excelsior Hotel Surry Hills, just to name a few, and each time provided a blistering, unforgettable, crowd mesmerising performance.

QTG’s name alone raises eyebrows and for those already savvy to their style, a smile!! QTG’s explosive repertoire has included a Saturday night residency at the legendary Lansdowne Hotel where the band delivered HOTWAX and gave their fans and first timers a night to remember. A scantily clad dominatrix, a half naked gimp, a dripping candle loaded with hot wax… Need we say more!?

In June 2005, QTG began to lay down material for their debut album ‘Giants’ (ON SALE NOW through MGM Distribution in all good record stores!). . It was time to bring their funk and groove, epical metal pop compilation to the masses.

These 12 songs represent who they are at this point in their musical journey; a hard task considering the ever changing and evolving world we live in today, but none the less an incredibly rewarding one according to these guys.

With ‘Giants’ now complete, the Gimps plan to charge on to even bigger gigs and bolder material within the kaleidoscope experience that is Quirk the Gimp.

Broken Heart in Orbit

Written By: Ben Dudai

It’s so beautiful out here
I see the planet spinning
And how my veins pump excitement
To be in orbit with you!

How I dreamt
Of this moment
Float out in my suit
One last wave to you
What I knew and what I know
Now changed by you
The doors close on our time
Oh god you’d leave me behind

Ohhh…. and now I know,
That you’re leaving me
Darling please I gotta know
Why’d you have to do it in space?
You could have left a note by the bed
I would have understood

Broken heart in orbit
Broken heart in orbit
Broken heart in orbit
Broken heart in orbit

Oh god yes now I realise what’s happened
I remember everything about it
You’d swoon when he’d come…
The captain
And now I float for them

Kill you with Love

Written By: Brent Rowley

I will kill you with love

You open yourself to pain
You only have yourself to blame
You wear your heart upon your sleave
Bleeding from your need

Belated song I sing for thee
I’ll show you all you want of me
I’ll sing for love, a love unfound
Searching the whole world until my true love is found

I will kill you with love

You wanna know why he gets into so much trouble?
Is it his dick or his insatiable need for pussy?
Who frikken knows man!
All I know is that he is a good man
A man who stands by the truth
A man who believes in love
A man who feeds on love and the universal truth of that is all there is
And so what if he dabbles in love with so many a pretty lady?
The goddess is out there
His goddess is out there

He will find a beautiful queen
He will find his beautiful queen

Belated song I sing for thee
I’ll show you all you want of me
I’ll sing for love, a love unfound
My heart beating a constant sound
Into your ear you hear me cry
A lonely tear I won’t deny
For me love is the greatest thing
To tell you I’m in love with you and mean it from within
WOW!!!

Kiss from the Ocean

Written By: Brent Rowley

Ba ba da ba ba da ba da ba ba...

Wonder why you fell inside a liquid dream
Sinking through the depths of you
The ocean brings fear and love
Creatures beneath, don’t hold your skin
Dive deep into the forbidden reaching sands

Deep as the sky
Teaming with life that will never be seen
Rowing our ear toward her heart
She’s a mirror for our past
Remember when she held you back then?
So safe and so secure
Driving you home on a lip
A kiss from the ocean

A kiss from the ocean
A kiss from the ocean
A kiss from the ocean
A kiss from the ocean

The Little People

Written By: Ben Dudai

I am on the case
Shout outs must be made
To the world
To the little ones
Who dig your graves and bake your cakes
The healers to the helper who help you
A sea of skin and bone and flesh
A sea of faces holding it down again
Generations of forgotten little gems

Fighting the urge to realise
The big dogs nothing without his size
Feeling the power on the rise
On the rise
On the rise

And they call it a day and head home
To lovers arms and children on the lawn
Bring home what they need to survive
They do us proud
Do it right

Remember all the little people!

I am on the case
It’s time for change, to rearrange
The credits overdue and it must be paid to
To those who ride up on top
Don’t look down
Come and join the crowd
A sea of skin and bone and flesh
A sea of faces holding it down again
Working and struggling for years on end

Remember all the little people!

Run from the Devil

Written By: Ben Dudai

Running
I’m running from a flaming man
Fire is chasing with no mercy
Explosions surrounding everything I see
What am I to do?

Leap up in the air fast
Prey you’ll stay up there while
Growing mighty wings to save you
Remember you’re awake
See all you have at stake
And push your pulse
To keep your heart beating

Growing
Oh he’s growing
Consuming all he can
Bolder and brighter
He’s blinding and smoke filled
He’s gaining, I’m slowing
Soon he will have me
What am I to do?

You better run from the devil!!

Giants

Written By: Brent Rowley

They come in the room
Smashing uninvited
Ruin they doom
The tiny souls are frightened

There are Giants today
Fighting Giants this way
Kill the Giants today
But we are Giants

Stand up and become
The Giant that you are
Don’t fade away
Live big!
The Giants way

There are Giants today
Fighting Giants this way
Kill the Giants today
But we are Giants
