Bio

Quirk the Gimp (QTG), thus far, has evaded genre classification, but has been described as playing a funk and groove, epical metal pop compilation. What is that you may ask? You’ll just have to press play folks, or get your arse to one of their explosive live gigs!!

The QTG sound has been influenced by all music; artists such as The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Faith No More, Audioslave, Fishbone, Infectious Grooves, Prince, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Primus to name but a few.

The QTG sound is not only defined by their musical influences however. It also speaks their view of the world, speaks of a greater tomorrow for humanity and the planet we call Earth. QTG creates music that inspires unity and which evokes dance and thought.

As soon as you see QTG it is apparent they are performers as well as musicians. They dabble in the theatrical, are known for their wicked humour and always manage to go further than anyone expects or thinks possible. They’ve got vocals, original lyrics and an awesome stage presence to boot.

QTG has evolved over the years. Forming in October 2001, they played their first gig under the one time only name ‘the George Grind band’, however as QTG they have graced the stages of Sydney at: The Lansdowne Hotel, the Annandale Hotel, the Gaelic Club, the Marquee, The Metro, the Hopetoun, The Cat and Fiddle, the Crest Hotel, the Vic on the Park, the Excelsior Hotel Surry Hills, just to name a few, and each time provided a blistering, unforgettable, crowd mesmerising performance.

QTG’s name alone raises eyebrows and for those already savvy to their style, a smile!! QTG’s explosive repertoire has included a Saturday night residency at the legendary Lansdowne Hotel where the band delivered HOTWAX and gave their fans and first timers a night to remember. A scantily clad dominatrix, a half naked gimp, a dripping candle loaded with hot wax… Need we say more!?

In June 2005, QTG began to lay down material for their debut album ‘Giants’ (ON SALE NOW through MGM Distribution in all good record stores!). . It was time to bring their funk and groove, epical metal pop compilation to the masses.

These 12 songs represent who they are at this point in their musical journey; a hard task considering the ever changing and evolving world we live in today, but none the less an incredibly rewarding one according to these guys.

With ‘Giants’ now complete, the Gimps plan to charge on to even bigger gigs and bolder material within the kaleidoscope experience that is Quirk the Gimp.
