R1Band guitarist Coleman Brown has performed in various R&B and Blues bands in the Seattle area. He has also performanced with bands in Europe and Japan. Coleman has been a member of bands, such as Septimus, Cinnamon Soul and Blacky Joe and the Natives. Abdullah has been both a drummer and a headliner with bands such as, Sun Dance, Boogey Brown, Straight Ahead and One Fullness. Michael Blackburn has performed in John Lewis Jazz band (Philadelphia), Evening Pro Blusica (Massachusetts) and All Blues Jazz Quartet (Rochester NY). Jesse Gallaher has performed with bought Reggae, Rap and Hip-hop bands, such as, Rasbonso Twistone, and Lords of Leisure. Most of the R1bands songs are original and written by Jesse an are arranged and influenced by the band. Many of the songs have a strong Reggae beat. But we not beyond breaking out of that mode into such standards as Hey Joe by Jim Hendrix or I’m a Man by Muddy Water. Abdullah is capable of singing Raster Ballad , including such songs as, Guesss Who Coming to Dinner by Mike Rose and Exodus by Bob Marley . Our CD has 9 completed songs on it. The music has decided political and social message, with a focus on the oneness of all people. We are not boring, our message comes with a beat designed to make you move.
