"Stay With Me (feat. Santana Rose) - Single"

He caused waves in the EDM scene with “Save the Night” and “Rebirth” (feat. Laura Rage), and now R33SON’s latest dubstep remix, “Stay With Me” (feat. Santana Rose), creates a surge of aggressive beats integrated with rhythmic vocals in typical brostep fashion. With his metal-esque sound that is influenced by his background with Dorian Gray, R33SON takes on the favourable build-up and breakdown of the genre whilst developing subtle differences that demonstrate this DJ’s growth into his own unique and dynamic sound. R33SON will be playing the Alter Ego Martini Lounge in Mississauga on April 26th. - New Canadian Musician

"R33SON Releases New LP To Support Humane Society"

Toronto DJ and former Dorian Gray member R33SON (aka Chris DiPardo) drops his first full-length album, Robots VS Aliens, after releasing the tantalizing Inertia EP in late 2012, bringing a fresh, powerful roster of mixes while supporting a good cause. DiPardo felt the need to donate $2 of every sale from the upcoming LP to the Humane Society after finding a stray cat and being turned down for lack of room for more animals. With a cause close to his heart and serious beats rocking in his head, the Toronto DJ is set to make waves on the EDM scene.

Taking a slightly different direction from his first EP, Robots VS Aliens brings the battle of dubstep, trap, and electro to light with the epic “Rockstar” and dynamic “I Knew You Were Trouble – Taylor Swift Remix”. For fans of Skrillex, Knife Party, and Datsik, meet the latest EDM sensation to dominate your mix list. Still focusing on the heavy drops he has become so well known for on the circuit, R33SON brings this uplifting album just in time for the hot heat of summer clubbing.

The Toronto DJ is set to have an exclusive release party as part of the new event series, Electric Amnesia, in the upstairs portion of Spice Room in Port Credit TONIGHT (August 23rd) – $10 at the door and starting at 9pm.

With contagious beats that will bring you to the dance floor in a heartbeat with animalistic fervour, it seems fitting that it all comes in support of the animals who need help the most. So, drop the beat and save some innocent lives.

"Chris DiPardo AKA R33SON"

Why did you decide to start producing?
I joined a band called Dorian Gray.. It’s a Metal band and for about four years we started building us and did some traveling and tours across the states but we fell apart. So I decided I was going to start producing music. I didn’t release anything right away, I spent a couple years taking tutorials and using my schooling to try and come up with my own sound. I took the time to actually perfect the skills until I felt like I was ready.

Why Dubstep though?

It spoke to me the most because it was the closest thing to metal, which is what I was comfortable writing. I do everything, up to making my own instrumentals. So not only do I make the melodies, record the songs, mix it and all that, I also make every synthesizer in the song from scratch.

What programs do you use?

I use Ableton to arrange the songs and then MASSIVE, MFA and Razor to make the actual instruments. If you take presets of what others made, which is what many people do, you end up sounding like everyone else. But when you get to the point of making your own instruments, your fans get to be more familiar with your sound.

You’ve recently released your newest album, Robots vs. Aliens. Tell me a little about that.

It took a little under a year to make the album. At first I was just releasing singles, but I kept getting emails saying I should group the songs together. So I was like why not make a whole album and release my first full length album. Cause it’s usually EPs right? But I was like this could be interesting.

How did you come up with the title?

Some guy asked me once in the studio what makes me happy, and I was like Music. And he asked me what does my music sound like, I’m like it sounds like robots fighting aliens… then I was like that would be a cool album title!

That’s pretty awesome. Which song gave you the hardest time on this album?

I would say Save the Night, because I was singing on it and I don’t sing lol . I had to practice for a month before I recorded the vocals.

Why did you decide to sing on it if you don’t know how to sing ?

I actually just wanted to try it. I like how it turned out I was surprised.

You have a US tour coming up right?

Yes US tour coming up in October. It is a little under three weeks, from New York all the way up around to Texas, Atlanta, Florida to L.A and Vegas and it ends in Denver. Loops around east coast to west coast and the south. Stay Soul Fresh is also touring with me.

They recently asked Dillon Francis on LESS THEN 3 how he would incorporate a 1000 cats into his live show. You being philanthropic with the Animal Humane Society, specifically in regards to stray cats, I feel like it’s a fitting question to ask as well. So, how would you incorporate a 1000 cats into your show.

Omg…. Umm I would make a border of cat food around the stage and have them wear glow necklaces and run around me.

That’s pretty good. I’d be down for that show.

Me too. - ISCREAMMUSIC

"Troubled animal society gets boost from Mississauga DJ R33SON's new album"

MISSISSAUGA — His publicity photos are decidedly mean and moody, he doesn't shy away from explicit lyrics in his music and the title of one of his tracks is about shooting lasers from certain body parts. But Mississauga DJ R33SON has a soft spot — for kittens.

The former metal rocker-turned-DJ has just released his first full-length album, Robots vs. Aliens, and is donating $2 from each album sale to the cash-strapped Mississauga Humane Society.

The society, which cares for around 200 pets, was forced to stop taking in new animals in February after an unexpected dip in donations caused its financial situation to deteriorate rapidly.

R33SON, who lives in Erin Mills and whose real name is Chris DiPardo, became a supporter of the society after coming across a stray cat and taking it to the shelter, only for staff to have to turn it away.

"I tried to go to the Humane Society so it didn't have to be starving for food and they said they were so full they didn't have any money to bring in any more animals," says R33SON. "I wished I had something that I could donate and I ended up having to find a home for the cat on my own. My hope is that this will help out."

R33SON describes his 10-track album as a mix of U.K. dance music dubstep and electro that's "kinda dancy, kinda heavy" and contains some collaborations with rap artists and vocalists.

The title, Robots vs. Aliens, comes from his attempt to explain his sound to a friend. "It's one of those things that's hard to describe so I said it sounds like robots fighting aliens. And then I thought that sounds like a cool album base," he says.

Although most of the tracks on the album are originals, one is a cover of a somewhat unlikely song — Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble."

"I'm actually a Taylor Swift fan, as embarrassing as it is," says R33SON, who went to see the American country-pop singer at a concert in Toronto. R33SON has layered his own sound with Swift's worldwide hit by adding an uptempo synth and including more dubstep influences.

R33SON hopes his new album will find an audience with fans of DJs like Skrillex, and says the sounds is a departure from that on his previous EP, Inertia, which had more metal influences.

Robots vs. Aliens is out now to download on iTunes — check out two tracks from his new album below. You can catch R33SON DJing his new album at Spice Lounge in Port Credit (52 Lakeshore Rd. E.) on Aug. 23 from 9 p.m. - Mississauga News

Bio

Chris DiPardo, born March 17, 1988 was always interested in music. Growing up in Niagara Falls Chris would perform in local bands and attend local shows.

In 2006 he started started the metal band "Dorian Gray." That same year he initiated "No Shame Productions" (Later to become DP ENTERTAINMENT) where he put on local shows in downtown Niagara Falls, to showcase local acts and build Dorian Gray's following.

In 2008 he moved to Mississauga and attended Metal Works Institute of Music Production. During college he started promoting, booking, and managing in Mississauga through newly founded DP ENTERTAINMENT. He noticed that Mississauga didn't have a music scene like Niagara so he decided to being the music there. He ran concerts for bands like: Abandon All Ships, We Came As Romans, Straight Reads The Line, Hometown Beatdown and more. While doing these concerts and attending school he would also take the role as an Agent/Manager and book performances and US/CANADIAN tours for Dorian Gray.

After graduating in 2010, the members of Dorian Gray all decided to go their separate ways. Chris couldn't stop music. It was at this point he decided to form the band Paramount. He booked a USA tour from Nashville-Texas-Californa and back for the new band. But unfortunately they were refused access to the USA. It was at this point the band gave up, before they ever started really.

Frustrated with the whole band-bailing thing, Chris moved to Toronto and decided to do things on his own. In 2011 he started R33SON, a Dubstep solo project. Dubstep was still new to him in 2011, but it interested him and he knew he could take his time on releasing an album.

R33SON has showcased a bunch of singles and remixes to "test the waters." The debut album "Inertia" (October 16, 2012) is an album that is poppy, and heavy bass much similar to the Metal "RIFF-BREAKDOWN" idea--only with synths. It features other talented rapper and singer collaborations.

Released under DP Entertainment, R33SON's Inertia is available on Band Camp, Itunes, Amazon and some retailers.

July 30, 2013, R33SON will be releasing his first full length: Robots VS Aliens. $2 of every ITunes album sale will be donated to the Humane Society Animal Rescue.
