REGRA 4 was formed 17 years ago in Curitiba, south of Brazil. The group has a discography of 4 Albums all released independently: “Max Single Regra 4” (2001); “Samba Groove: a Volta do Homem pro Mato (2005); “Quando a Máquina Parar” (2008) and “Filhos do Rio Belém” (2012).
The band’s sound is a mix of Afro-Brazilian rhythms (samba, côco, ijexa, frevo, maculelê, maracatu, jongo, ilu) with live electronic music and Rock, resulting in a Contemporary MPB (Brazilian Popular Music).
In July 2011 REGRA 4 conquered international recognition and space in their first European Tour when they performed at the 45th Mountreux Jazz Festival and at the 18th Montreux Meets Brienz, both in Switzerland.
In July 2013 REGRA 4 released their first DVD “Filhos do Rio Belém” in Switzerland, France and Portugal on their second European Tour. It was a 21-day tour performing at festivals such as Fête de la Musique (Vence, France), Tempo Latino, and Sleepness Festival (both in Switzerland). Regra 4 was also invited to perform at the Soy Latino Festival in Rome, Italy.
Now the group is working on their 5th CD - PATRA to be released in 2014.
In march 2014 REGRA 4 performed two official showcases at the SXSW – South by Southwest Festival in Austin, TX (USA).
