"Rachael Cardiello: Warm Electric Winter (2012)"

FIVE STARS....Listening to the album, it's hard to imagine Cardiello not being backed up by a full electric band, as the chemistry and overall feel of the instrumentals sounds so perfectly tailored to Cardiello's style. - Cincinnati Music Examiner

"New Music: Rachael Cardiello - Warm Electric Winter"

Was just turned onto Toronto musician Rachael Cardiello and couldn’t be happier. Her first full length album ‘Warm Electric Winter’ weaves genres so unbelievably easy, as you dance away in your head to a blues drenched melody you’re suddenly taken away to the Pop plains where her voice lends itself to the ages. - Sonic More Music

Bio

Born in Tornado Alley, raised between mountains in Montana, Rachael Cardiello currently resides in Toronto where she leads a six-piece neon soul band.  A classically trained violist hooked on the harmonies of Motown and the storytelling of folk, Cardiello sings of mental institutes, cross border marriages, love affairs in attics, grief, ghosts, and an alternative version of the American dream.

With the release of her first full length album, Warm Electric Winter, recorded in Brooklyn New York,  Cardiello breaks away from her classical and folk roots and dives into a bold, neon landscape heavily influenced by Motown and soul. Equal parts intimate and fierce, Rachael leads her heavy-weight jazz-trained band with a viola in hand and swing in her style. With two tours through the USA and Canada under their belts, including folk festivals in BC and Manitoba, rooftops in New York, dirty Montana bars, San Francisco's Hotel Utah, Vancouver's Railway Club and Toronto venues such as the Rivoli, Cameron House, Piston and Dakota Tavern, Cardiello and her Warm Electric Winter band have been turning heads and jiving up dance floors.

"Cardiello's show exceeded our expectations in every way. The band was tight, the energy was electric, and they brought a driving dance party to the mainstage." -Adam Iredale-Gray, Artistic Director, Campbell Bay Music Fest

Rachael has toured, collaborated, and recorded extensively in both Canada and the USA with a variety of artists. Most recently she toured as a backup singer for The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer and as an organist for Miss Quincy and the Showdown. For two summers, Cardiello toured with the Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra and collaborated with them on a sold out, multi-media folk-rock opera called There Once Was a Girl. Other collaborations include Gabrielle Papillon, David Newberry, Jenny Berkel, Sarah Jane Scouten, Blue Sky Miners, Anna Atkinson, and Humble Wonder Theatre. Recording credits include Chloe Charles, James Burrows, and Georgia Straight.  Music from her 2011 EP One for the Wind was featured in a short film, The Things I Want to Tell You, which debuted in New York on September 30, 2012.

"Warm Electric Winter weaves genres so unbelievably easy, as you dance away in your head to a blues drenched melody you're suddenly taken away to the Pop plains where her voice lends itself to the ages. As I listened to 'Warm Electric Winter' I just couldn't get past how much Rachael's voice reminds me of two of my most favourite female's vocalists, Beth Gibbons (Portishead) and Kate Bush..."  - Sonic More Music, Toronto

“Cardiello filled the rustic walls with her angelic vocals telling tales of the trials and triumphs of her life.  The sincerity in her performance and the passion with which she played moved listeners to join her in the moment: singing and clapping in beautiful harmony.” - PopYOUlarity, Vancouver
